Not sure if I recommended this before, but Eric Lindell is awesome.

Track Highlights: Low on Cash, Lady Day and John Coltrane, Mind your Business, Lay Back Down.

They actually played Lay Back Down on Conan a while back, right after the strike was over.

Amazing band, even though I've never listened to bluesy/jazzy rock before.

I don't know who exactly I could recommend this album too. I just really like it.

My Track Highlights: The Everlasting, If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next, I'm Not Working

I don't know how many of you like Nas, but his new album came out.
Its pretty good, not his best work, but still quite solid.
The best tracks are probably Sly Fox, Hero, Fried Chicken & Breathe.

I'd give it maybe 8 or 8.5 out of 10.

Can anyone recommend me a music that is acoustic or sentimental? The only bands that the music I listened to right now are Nickelback.

The Untitled album is nice. I like it so far (listened to it about 3 times yet). But I already have the feeling it doesn't hold too much replay value.

“One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.”

“A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.”

It's about damn time.

Man... there sure is a lot of shitty music in this thread.

Props for Gundy for knowing his metal, even though he did post a Stone faggot Pilots album somewhere in between.

Here are some basics in good music for you people:

Lou Reed- Transformer

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

Yes - Relayer

Enjoy your very basic introduction to good music.

I did?

Maybe it wasn't you. This is a long thread.

Anyhow...

Ever listened to any Sleep or Emperor?

Thu Jul 24, 2008 2:05 pm

I've heard of Sleep but I have never really listened to them. Might check them out. As for Emperor, I looked them up and was sad to see that they were black metal. I've tried to listen to that stuff and sometimes its really good but its just too dark for me.

Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:09 pm

Most of the stuff I listen to might be a little dark then... lots of Death/ Black metal.

Sleep is a tad milder though... closer to "Stoner Metal".

Check out "Dopesmoker" by them, it's pretty damn powerful... almost an anthem in a sense. You should also check out Om if you like Sleep.

Man... there sure is a lot of shitty music in this thread.

Yeah, your stuff certainly raises the bar

On a side note, nice avatar Gundy, Jesu is cool stuff (Y)

Death and Black metal are some of the most musically complex and diverse genres in this world.

But what would you know about music?

You actually have a pretty good taste in music, congratulations.

I like practically every band you've mentioned in your last post... even though The Mars Volta can get annoying.

Pelican is amazing, Dredg and Isis are great, Russian Circles are wonderful... so on, and so forth.

Thanks. Pretty awesome to think that the man behind Godflesh is the same man behind Jesu.

I'm surprised no one suggested this album yet.

If you liked Ten Thousand Fists, you'll like Indestructible. It's another solid album.

Props for the nice cover.
