Yeah, I wanted to see the Mets move one, but it doesn't really matter who the Tigers play, their pitching is just too good for them to lose. Tigers in 5.

One of my best friends (my roomate too) has two tickets to game 6 in Detroit. I've been begging him to take me, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the Tigers finish it off in 5... let's hope for 6 though, bring the series back home and win it here!

Tough titty New York. Go Tigers!!!

haha i was going to say this.. this is similar to last year's WS- no east coast teams invovled. what will ESPN do? lead with New England highlights over a World Series game on Sportscenter? haha

I'm a Reds fan but my second favorite team has become the Mets. I really liked their team this year and I was dissapointed when they lost. Oh yeah, I fucking hate the Cardinals also, so that contributed to my dissapointment.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers caught with "dirt" on his pitching hand during Game 2 of the World Series.

Seems like "dirt" has always been in his hand since the ALCS.
Dirt on a pitcher's hand? Pitchers are overly sensitive about their hands from blisters to their nails and yet he fails to notice the dirt in his hands?
Tue Oct 24, 2006 9:59 am
Pitchers use dirt to get a better grip. If it was something other than dirt, then he could be in trouble, but dirt is allowed. I don't know why this was such a big deal.
Tue Oct 24, 2006 12:29 pm
He still went on to pitch 7 scoreless innings. Oh well.

Exact sentiment of the Major League. They would rather ignore it than investigate it.
If you look at the pics, he also had "dirt" before (during the ALCS). In the same spot in his hand? With similar marking?

He cleaned it off, then pitched 7 scoreless innings, like Gundy said. Do you really think he needed help to pitch that night?

you don't get rid of pine tar with a simple rinse. maybe the color but not the pine tar itself
it's a shame that this incident has taken over/will be the headline the rest of the series. over 150+ games and it's come down to pine tar.
Wed Oct 25, 2006 6:06 pm
Yup, not a big deal, now the Cardinal suckers have given up a game for doing nothing.
Good thing is that Carpenter made them pay, 2-1. YaY!
Thu Oct 26, 2006 12:40 am
I'd be very glad to see the Cardinals win it all.
Thu Oct 26, 2006 3:56 am
Kenny's an idiot for not hiding it better. It reminds me of Julian Tavarez a few years ago with the Cardinals when his hat was totally covered in pine tar on the mound.

Tigers could be eliminated tonight. "The Best Rotation in Baseball" isn't doing too well , and has had 4 errors in 4 World Series games. I want to see some Cardinals drinking champagne tonight , go Cards!
Sat Oct 28, 2006 10:41 am
Fuck Cards, I hope they lose another World Series.

Winning a championship in your home stadium is one of the best expeiences I enjoy watching on TV. It is why I refused to watch the Miami Heat celebrate when they won the NBA finals this year , it just isn't the same when you celebrate in hostile territory instead of at home in a packed stadium with thousands of jubilant fans.
Congratulations to the Cardinals! They got swept 2 years ago , went to game 7 of the NLCS last year , and finally they win it all!

Congrats to the Cards. I'm a little disappointed, but not surprised. At least I can finally have pride in saying that I am a life long Tigers fan!
Sun Oct 29, 2006 3:09 am
Whoo, I was at the game.!! Go Cards
Sun Oct 29, 2006 3:16 am
Congrats to the Cards....this should be one of many world series in pujols career.
btw KIG, how much was the ticket for the game?
Mon Oct 30, 2006 5:00 am
At least I picked the series length correctly ... for the wrong team.

I think this years postseason showed that momentum means nothing in baseball. The Cardinals and Tigers both "backed" into the postseason and many people, like myself, had them written off in the first round. Instead, they both ended up having great playoff runs and making it all the way to the World Series. It really shows you how baseball is an unpredictable sport. Next season we could have 4 or 5 playoff teams miss the postseason all together. It's just a really weird game.
Good work, Cards.
Mon Oct 30, 2006 6:20 am
I'm happy for the Cardinals.

How about those Buckeyes, Indy? That was one hell of a game huh?
