Emre Can bumping people like they are stupid pieces of paper...

Seems like there are now two players I can enjoy watching in Liverpool, Can and Sterling.

Spanish site editing the pic to make it appear there were more Real Madrid fans than Manchester United supporters in attendance, 100,000+ people watched the match apparently.

I still can't post Arsenal related stuff, still in shock of Yaya SaNOGoal scoring 4 goals in a friendly against Benefica, Joel Campbell was hawt too.

Emre does seem to be a bit of a beast. Hopefully he can be our new Mascherano-type enforcer in midfield.

Sterling is only 19 and he already has World Cup experience. The future of him, Markovic and Jordon Ibe on the wings is exciting. (Y)

Seriously though, will Lampard even make the bench for City? :eh:

It appears as though the Alberto Moreno transfer saga is finally coming to an end. Liverpool have apparently agreed a £16m fee with Sevilla and now he just needs to do a medical.

It's about the 10th time I've seen it reported that he is due for a medical in the past month or so. Hope they are right this time

Man. Van Gaal and MU is what my money is on next season (Y).

Sorry to say this to Phil but I don't think Liverpool will be making CL next season

They didn't make any noticeable change after they lost Suarez. At least Tottenham bought some known players after they lost Bale.

Officially confirmed by the manager he will, loan duration is 6 months with 100% of his wages to be paid by City with Pellegrini stating he will use Lampard in EPL and CL matches and the possibility of sitting him out against Chelsea (if Pellegrini doesn't feel like trolling that day).

City supposedly needs to include Lampard in the squad to meet the minimum quota of domestic players to avoid being sanctioned, this also leads City to go official with the Mangala transfer since they meet the quota now.

Pepe Reina set to move to Bayern Munich for £2 million.

Good move for everyone. Bayern get an experienced backup to Neuer, Reina gets to win some trophies and Liverpool gets rid of his £100,000 per week wages.

85 - Arsenal have won their 2nd trophy in 85 days after going 3283 days without silverware prior to that. Rebirth.

:cheeky:

They also did pretty well to get £15m from Barcelona for Thomas Vermaelen.

Liverpool looked really good against a (weakened) Dortmund team, winning 4-0. Lovren, Can and Manquillo all looked good.

I think Coutinho is going to have a break-out season this year. I've never seen someone who can pass the ball as perfectly as he can. :bowdown2:

Was reading the tweets from other Arsenal supporters who think the Community Shield is a major trophy smh and forgetting that Moyes also won the Community Shield last year... :facepalm2:
At least those tweets weren't from more retarded and Arsenal 'superfan' Piers Morgan, it makes me ashamed to be an Arsenal fan every time I'm reminded that he also supports Arsenal.

Arsenal can thank Man Utd for the price increase of Thomas Vermaelen. From £10m Man Utd increased it to £15m and Barca eventually matched, with the same amount of offer from both teams it was easy for Wenger to avoid giving a player to Utd and even asking for Chris Smalling in exchange just to make sure Utd turns down the deal.

Props also to Vermaelen for not forcing his way to Utd unlike that cunt RVP. Even though Vermaelen (or his gf mostly) preferred to stay in England and Utd offered a higher wage than Barca he still agreed to sign with the latter to complete the sale and transfer.

I know Klopp is a fan of Arsenal but playing exactly like them, thats a bit too far.

Also, Klopp paying respect to tradition of tapping the logo in the tunnel...

....but unfortunately he's not part of the club and it brought him bad luck instead.

When Arsene Wenger retires Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simone are the managers that I prefer to take over for Arsenal.

The following rumors are deserving of a double post...

Manchester United already has a backup plan in case they don't get Vidal. That backup plan is...

...buying Alex Song. :applaud: :bowdown2:

In even better news, best play-a-maker Shinji Kagawa is not to be booted out of Man Utd By van Gaal unlike Nani, Chicarito, and Fellaini. Kagawa can stay with the team if he wants to.

I read today that he injured himself in his first Barca training session and will miss six weeks. BBC says he was already injured from the World Cup though.

Barca have now signed two players that they can't use for a while

Klopp is a great manager and just a cool human being really. He is a breath of fresh in air a world of cliche answers and "mind games" from managers.

Shame that Bayern keep buying all his best players and ruining the competition in Germany.

“I once beat Liverpool 5-0 with Mainz, so for me it’s still 5-4 now. After that we got relegated by the way.”- Klopp

Liverpool continue to strengthen problem areas in their squad. Agreed a £12m fee with Sevilla for left back Alberto Moreno.

It's nice to have a transfer window where the team buys players who I would actually buy on FIFA or Football Manager :P

Lambert, Lallana, Emre Can, Markovic, Origi, Lovren, Manquillo (loan), Moreno.

It's a good mix. Lambert, Lallana and Lovren will come in right away and play as they already have experience in the premier league. Can, Markovic, Origi, Manquillo and Moreno all have great potential and are all young.

Now Rodgers just needs to sign another striker before the window shuts.

Hopefully this puts a stop to the media's brown-nosing of Van Gaal. He ain't turning that squad into a top four team overnight. :scold:

They may have lost today but this doesn't mean we have to count them out. Expect United to flourish when City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are really grinding it out in the UCL + Domestic Cups while United doesn't have European competition.

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Sun Aug 17, 2014 12:26 am

But Van Gaal was going to win them the league...

At least that is the impression I got from every football "expert" over the last few weeks on TV and across the internet.

All I'll take out of today's result is that the premier league will still as competitive as ever this season. (Y)

United will be just fine over time, but anyone who thought Van Gaal was going to come in and roll over everyone was sadly mistaken. They're a ways for them to go, and I don't know that they'll make it into the Top 3 this season, but possibly. I'm content to see them keep losing, personally.

van Gaal is the type of manager who relies too much on having the right players for his system instead of adjusting his system with the players he has. It's silly for the club to expect van Gaal to win when they haven't even given him the players he wants, even Moyes got Fellaini.
Ed "we're prepared to break the club's transfer record" Woodward hasn't even brought in a single player requested by van Gaal, all of Man Utd's signings this season were from previous deals made by Moyes or the club itself. The Toni Kroos deal was apparently planned by Moyes way back, I don't know if van Gaal or the club declined the deal but it's stupid either way.

I want Man Utd to lose too just so van Gaal would give more minutes to Shinji Kagawa out of desperation or spite of the club's incompetence.
