Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

"My Point of No Return" wasn't the series finale.
Yes it was, don't even try to couple that mediocrity in with the rest of the series.
But for all we know, this isn't the end of Futurama either.

I had a bit of a marathon over the past couple of days and caught up with the latter half of Season 7. While I'd agree with the sentiment that it wasn't the strongest run of episodes, I still thought they were pretty good for the most part. I don't think I'd pick any of them as being among the best in the series, but I still found them very enjoyable. The ending of "Game of Tones" was pretty awesome though; for me, it was up there with "Luck of the Fryrish" and "Jurassic Bark". They were better episodes overall, but the ending was great and holds its own against those classic episodes.
If the series is done and dusted, "Meanwhile" was a decent finale that doesn't necessarily need to be the grand finale should the show be resurrected once again. Of all the episodes written to be open-ended finales, it certainly isn't the strongest, but it was still a fairly good note to end upon, if that's the way it goes.

There had been talk that a lot of people were all mostly ready to move on rather than try and start over again if the opportunity presents itself. Some of the rumors that they might have been renewed for six or so but no more than 13 episodes sound like it might have been a "should we write out a long farewell" situation and they decided against it so CC took the opportunity to pull the plug before they changed their mind. But now we've had Groening and Katy Segal out there the last couple weeks talking about films, direct-to-video, or maybe finding another channel. So who knows, Groening certainly has the power to do mostly whatever he wants, I wonder if he has enough to get out of the CC deal and move the show back to adult swim which might take it. (Or FXX?)
I forget who, but one of the creators, David X. Cohen perhaps, said they knew they couldn't top Devil's Hands so they weren't going to try and go for something different.

They should do live action.

Reminds me of this:
If they do end up producing more content, I'll be sure to check it out. It's at a point where the show has more or less peaked already, but it's still a long, long way from being awful, so I'd welcome more episodes or direct-to-video stuff.
