Dana doesn't pick the judges. The California Athletic Commission does. As much as Dana has done a lot of shit, he even said he thought Shogun won.

Victims of what? Rampage bailed on the UFC and Shogun got robbed by the judges. If anyone is getting screwed lately it's him. Also to pile on top of that, Brock just pulled out of 106 with an illness.

Yeah. Dana hated on Rampage when he bailed him out of jail when he lived up to his name and actually went on a Rampage.

In the wake of all this Strikeforce could be the ones who benefit. If Strikeforce hits it big on the Fedor vs Rogers card they could start to really compete with the UFC. Most of the people I know have never heard of Strikeforce or even Fedor, but with it airing on national tv they have a chance to gain a shit ton of fans and recognition.

I think the Strikeforce/Fedor thing is almost lose/lose... I mean if Rogers wins, people say Fedor's overrated and UFC was right not to sign him etc. If (when) Fedor wins, everyone says who's next? There's just no one else for him to fight outside of maybe Overeem.

Yeah, the hw division is a joke outside of the UFC. They need to just keep adding talent and be on national tv and people will watch. I hate the gimmicky feel of Strikeforce though. Having the first ever women's headliner, signing old ass Herschel Walker, etc. They should just stick to trying to get legit young talent and developing their own stars. Also get new announcers too.

Yeah I agree, the constant catch-weight fights because they've only got like 4 decent guys is getting to me as well. I seriously would not be shocked to see them put Diaz or someone against Fedor at a catch-weight. If I were them I'd be going out and grabbing every recently graduated Div 1 wrestler and young Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt they can find and hopefully build someone up. They've got the right idea with their challenger thing but the execution is poor.

That's what you get when you suddenly change pace from being slowly growing and building talent to trying to go head-to-head with the UFC. It's funny how the UFC HW division used to be the joke.
Thu Oct 29, 2009 2:14 pm
I blame Tim Sylvia for that.

Rampage vs Door was a lot better fight than Junk vs Rat. But I'm still enjoying this season of the ultimate fighter.
Thu Oct 29, 2009 8:31 pm
The door never stood a chance. Especially since it appeared to be reinforced by cardboard. God knows why Dana was getting so excited about the fight, outside of the first 3 minutes it was awful.

I don't see Dana as an angel who'd do stuff like that without any gain. But many share what I feel although it can't be proven about former Pride fighters always getting shorter end in one way or the other.

Dana might be an ass most of the time, but the Pride thing is too much. Rampage got star treatment the moment he came in. The Shogun decision wasn't his fault. The Athletic Commission picks the judges. He even said he thought Shogun won and he wants a rematch. And that's on the expense of Machida who they've been pushing as well. Shogun's title shot can even be argued as undeserving. Anderson and Wand have been treated very well although Anderson is a borderline Pride guy.

Zaromskis to Strikeforce. He's fun as hell to watch, but if you put him in there with anyone with a ground game he's in trouble imo.
Mon Nov 02, 2009 9:53 pm
Would've been fun to see a catchweight fight between him and Cung Le
Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:33 pm
Will Cung be fighting again, anyone know? I enjoyed him beating up Shamrock.
Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:42 pm
Probably not for the time being. He's enjoying his B-movie stints. Strikeforce already stripped him of the title for being inactive for so long. He seems quick to lose interest in what he's doing considering he didn't stick to K-1 for long as well.

This is it, girls.
Fedor VS Rogers
Sun Nov 08, 2009 9:28 pm
Pretty good card except for Shield's boring ass fight. I'm glad Rogers made it somewhat interesting. I was about to shit bricks when he was on top of Fedor doing his GNP.
Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:11 pm
I thought Shields-Mayhem was pretty interesting. I didn't expect Mayhem to do so well. The decision could've gone either way. It's not like Shields was just lying there. He was trying to advance his position and attempted some offense on the ground.

Enjoyed the whole card. Bigfoot and Werdun had a better scrap than expected. Mayham tried very hard, but against a wrestler who can avoid standup, it's not easy. And Fedor knocked Rogers into next week. Even with probably a broken nose, he's unstoppable. That man doesn't have hands. They're sledgehammers.

Fedor and Rogers fight was EPIC. It was a match to remember. Great crowd, and great battle of two greats.

Fedor looked average imo, Rogers looked worse. If either of them had fought like that against Brock they would still be peeling them off the mat. Rogers should've finished Fedor when he was pounding the hell out of him in the first round. He also gassed after like three minutes. I thought he was overrated but yeah, not impressed with Rogers and Fedor is better than he showed in that fight.
Mon Nov 09, 2009 2:23 am
The only thing that impressed me with Rogers was the ground defense he showed. At least it was better than I expected (then again, I expected none from him). As for Fedor, I think it was somewhat like vintage Fedor in the sense that he still manages to pull something out of his ass despite looking like shit for most of the fight. I hate how he easily gets cut. Wouldn't have that lame "loss" of his if he had thicker skin or something.
