I DL'ed the 80% leak a couple days ago. It reminds me of Maladroit, and I would put it in a 3-way tie for third place with Green and Mala for third place. It does easily beat MB (Perfect Situation and TISAP were the only decent tracks imo), but doesn't measure up to Blur or Pink.

The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived = best post-Pinkerton song ever
Cold Dark World = worst post-Pinkerton song ever; sounds like Kid Rock

Brian Bell has a shit voice.

As for my recommendations; aside of the interesting Red Album (which has an awesome cover btw) I've been listening to a lot of Spoon lately; mostly Girls Can Tell and Kill The Moonlight. (Y)

Make up your mind benji. The last time you were this undecisive was when you were trying to figure out if JT_55 is a bot or not.

Metacritic will decide. I go by PER.

Blue Album: 42.6 PER
Pinkerton: 44.2 PER
Green Album: 24.5 PER
Maladroit: 25 PER
Make Believe: 8.4 PER
Red Album: 23.7 PER

My 3 favorite tracks: TGMTEL, Everybody Get Dangerous, Pork & Beans (all likely singles!)

ah the Wallflowers. totally 90's. Jacob Dylan (the son of Bob Dylan) puts on a decent performance in One Headlight, the only song I've ever heard from them.

anybody have the Usher leak yet? His new album's coming out soon. Disappointed the song he supposedly did with TPain isn't on it. It's a decent album though I liked the last one a lot better. There's less dancey-pop Chris Brown like songs and more of the same R&B feel throughout the whole thing.

Check out the song with will.i.am called "What's Your Name". It's my favorite song besides the "Love in This Club" & "Love in This Club Part II" which you've probably heard by now.

Just a few recommendations of mine:

Image
The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath
Another mindblowing album, requires more than one or two listens though, even if it's not quite as hard to digest as their last two records.

Image
Between The Buried And Me - Colors
Best metal album ever in my world, absolutely epic in every way.

Image
The Dear Hunter - Act II: The Meaning Of, & All Things Regarding Ms. Leading
Ultra talented band from Boston, they mix elements of rock, pop, post-hardcore and folk and avoid all the clichés. Great guys to chat with too.

Image
Wintersleep - Welcome To The Night Sky
My favorite Canadian band. No quite as dark and moody as their previous one, but still as genuine as it gets.

Image
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works
The undisputed kings of math-metal, ridiculously skilled musicians, and now even strangely catchy.

Image
Pelican - City Of Echoes
Not quite as heavy and epic and it used to, they took a slightly lighter direction, but it's still heavy-as-fuck instrumental music.

Also, I couldn't find a good picture of Day Without Dawn - Understanding The Consequences, my favorite of 2008 so far. Super underrated, almost completely unknown band from NJ, for fans of The Postman Syndrome (their former name), Tool, dredg and Isis.

That's crazy. I just downloaded City of Echoes yesterday. Dead Between the Walls is a sick track.

The Dear Hunter's starting to grow on me. I haven't listened to Act II yet, but Dear Ms. Leading is one awesome record. And I don't like post-hardcore (or indie in general for that matter).

Red Hands is just flawless. I just finished listening to the acoustic version of the song.

Must download for everyone, even if you're not into this genre of music.

Great track indeed. I was fortunate enough to see Pelican live, this is one hell of an experience, shakes you to the core...

I would definitely recommend to listen to Act I, since the whole thing is extremely conceptual. It's not even that it's a concept album, it's actually a concept band that only exists to tell this story record after record, and starting with the first album is certainly helpful to grasp the meaning of the whole thing a bit better. These guys have a highly refreshing approach, it was a blast to see them play and chat with them about the music business.

I think Pelican is starting to nest in me. Damn birds.
Always been a fan of instrumentals.

In this case, I would certainly recommend Russian Circles, Explosions In The Sky, Red Sparowes, Mono, North and IRepress, among many others.

My buddy got me Usher's new album. Its alright. I like 'Moving Mountains' and 'Before I Met You.' :)

But yeh, will need to go listen to the album a few more times to decide if I like it or not. I've listened to it twice and I like Confessions and 8701 more.

Everybody and anybody should listen to Bob Marley's Legend. That is the best musical work to have ever been put together. Marley classics such as No Woman No Cry, Is This Love, Jamming, Redemption Song and a lot more. Classic, pure work of art (Y) (Y)

Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:21 pm

I can't wait for the Viva La Vida album to drop. Seriously.

Wed Jun 11, 2008 7:22 am

I wiSH I was a Balla - Too Short :D (Y)

Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:20 am

ok first of all, it's called "I Wish" and second it's by Skee-Lo, not Too Short. Too Short would never come up with anything as great as that song.

One of the few greatest hits albums i let slide as a self sufficient album...but remember my friend: albums >singles: especially for artists who stand the test of time like Marley

As for the Red Album, got it off Itunes...It redeems for Make Believe but i still wouldnt put it on a caliber of their pre breakup stage (which is gonna be hard to do again i guess). Give it a listen though, definitley worth hearing once.

Fri Jun 13, 2008 4:33 am

True. By the way, I got a copy of Bob Marley's Kaya album. It is great, I know it was released plenty of years ago but to have it in my hands feels as if I'm holding gold. Definitely a more romantic-oriented cd than others. Great cd (Y) (Y)

Damn right Q. I still remember playing that song the whole day in an internet cafe, during my teen years.

Just listened to Viva La Vida for the first couple of times. It's aight, neither shitty nor great.

I don't know, I'm a bit disappointed. I didn't expect it to touch the greatness of A Rush Of Blood To The Head but Viva La Vida doesn't even come close to the slightly worse X&Y...

Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:35 am

Bump.

Anyone checked Immortal Technique's The 3rd World mixtape yet? I think it's pretty dope. Golpe De Estado is definitely my favorite track off that cd.

The whole tape makes me highly anticipate his upcoming official album. Can't wait for that to drop.

Leaked this morning. Fucking awesome. Beck's best album since Midnite Vultures in my opinion. Major return to form.

Track Highlights: Orphans, Gamma Ray, Modern Guilt

Wed Jul 02, 2008 5:31 am

^I'll check it out. I didn't like any of his albums besides Mellow Gold. Odelay was above-average, but after that his sound got too indie and funky for my likings.
