Remember when I was telling you about the Brazilian teen Betinho I got from Sevilla (I think for $10 ml or something like that)? Look at this bid after one year in which he barely got on the pitch.

Holy shit, that's a huge offer. I would've taken it, then again I like stockpiling money for no reason.

Oh, and the most crucial award that I forgot to mention was the Best Manager award. I decided to post again because I came third. :)

1st - Miodrag Matac (Zemun)
2nd - Walter Zenga (Red Star)
3rd - ME! (Hajduk Rodic MB Kula)

I will continue in this team for another 3 seasons (contract), then hopefully move to a bigger club.

Its no biggie. I sold Eto'o to Liverpool for 46 million to add to my transfer budget which is now a whopping 98 million.

I havent made any big deals yet though. I brought in Akinfeev to replace Valdez at the GK spot ut other than that I have only signed young talents.

I got Kerlon while he was still young and loaned him out to see how he will perform since I know he wont get any time.

I got this other striker, Sobis, to add to my group so now I have 4 young, quality strikers for the future. When Kerlon comes back he will play AM/FC so he may still be useful elsewhere and even in instances of injury. I might also move him if the price is right since his value will skyrocket eventually.

I also got Glen Johnson from Chelsea...did I or did I not? It was either him or Taylor from Chelsea who I got to replace Edmilson.

EDIT: Correction, I ended up getting De Jong.

I'll take screenshots of transactions and post them later.

Life is good at Barca. :)

As dadamafia knows, I started a game with Wigan last night... the aim being to build a team full of young players that I can keep together for years. I gave them 80 million to spend, with the only real restriction being not to sign anyone over 21. I didn't want to fill the team up with superstars so I picked up lesser known guys, my starting XI looks like this:

GK: J. Lastuvka
DR: D. Tiendalli
DL: L. Baines
DC: A. Kruiswijk
DC: A. Ferdinand
MR: J. Francia
ML: G. Rossi
MC: Aythami
MC: N. Akram
FC: M. Bernacci
FC: Betinho

All up I've spent about 87 million in transfers. The most expensive player being Giuseppe Rossi for 15 million from United, followed by Betinho at 7.5 million and Bernacci at 7.5 million. I picked up Vincent Kompany on a free, and I've got Rodrigo Defendi and a young Spanish midfielder named Cristian coming in soon.

First game was away against Newcastle. I figured we'd lose since these guys had never played together before, and there's only one player in the entire squad over the age of 21. It started off badly with Albert Luque beating the keeper 1 on 1 in the 11th minute, but midfielder Juan Pablo Francia equalised not long after. Nashat Akram scored a penalty in the 2nd half, and Francia finished it off with his second goal of the game. Looking at the highlights, Rossi and Francia really dominated going from one side of the field to the other.

Wigan 3
Juan Pablo Francia (15, 64)
Nashat Akram (58)

Newcastle United 1
Albert Luque (11)

Francia won MoM for his 2 goals, Rossi ended up with 2 assists.

I've had a rough start even though I havent lost yet with my young Bolton side. I started over also and have brought in a bunch of quality young players (100 million budget by the way). I also renamed the stadium to Nike Palacio stadium (Which I have no idea if it makes sense or not) and changed their sponsor from Reebok to Nike.

Transfers in:

GK- Igor Akinfeev
ST- Rafael Sobis
ST- Betinho
D- Zuiverloon
AM- Moutinho
WB/M- N'Zogbia
WB- Dani Alves (oldest guy at 22, he'll be there until Rafinha wants to join)
DM- Tomas Sivok
D/DM- Maduro
D- Antan Ferdinand
AM- Farfan
AM/F- Aguero

Future Transfers In (official):

DM- Guarin
WB- Chiellini
ST- Marcelinho
GK- Arenas
D- Glen Johnson
WB/M- Ze Rodolpho

Within my first month and a half I have already faced Chelsea, Aresenal, Liverpool and Man Utd. I am sitting in 3rd right now in the premier league and looking forward to improving my standing. I was most surprised when we struggled to get a tie with Sheffield who were newly promoted. Oh well.

Well, about my game, I actually qualified for the FIFA world cup, I just somehow found a great formation, that no one actually topped. 4-3-3, with Jankauskas as the ST. I went unbeaten until the semis of the world cup, but I ended up losing the 3rd place match too.
Anyways, I got offered a job in Bologna, and I saw some nice players there so I accepted. Now I am continuing the same tactics and am leading the serie B. Sorry for the narrow articles, but you know how lazy I am.

I've been playing my Strasbourg game lately, I was kinda trying to decide whether to keep going with them or to take the job at Brescia I was offered, but I stuck with the team and it's paid off.

After 19 games in season 3, we're currently 8th on 34 points. That's not too much of a problem, considering the 2nd placed team is only on 38 points and we're on 4 match winning streak, in which we've scored 13 goals and conceded 1.

Our best players, in order have been:

Vagner Leonardelli (SW, DC)
15 Games
5 Man Of The Match awards
7.60 avg

I picked him up for virtually nothing from AS Roma's reserve team and he's been completely dominating. At one stage he had 3 MOM awards out of 5 matches. Only 22 years old aswell.

Massimo Mutarelli (DM)
14 Games Played
2 Goals
7.50 avg

Another Italian, he only cost me 1.8 million from Palermo and he's been fantastic aswell. In the last 5 games he's averaged a solid 8.00.

Ryan Babel (AML/ST)
28 Games Played
16 Goals
8 Assists
4 Man Of The Match awards
7.43 avg

Absolutely dominant so far, he's just ripping teams to pieces constantly and I couldn't be happier with him. Here's the killer though, he's only 21 years old and his contract was expiring. So I try to get him to re-sign but he won't, and the board won't give me the money he wants. So he's off to Deportivo at the end of the season :(

I made some changes during the transfer window...

Players Out
Alexander Farnerud : 2.5 million to Besiktas
Ugur Yildrim : 2.5 million to Besiktas
Emrah Ekin : 4 million to Le Mans
Carlos Martins : 2 million to Modena

Players In
Emiliano Viviano (GK) : 975k from Brescia
Rick Kruys (AMC) : 3 million from FC Utrecht

Kruys looks good, almost a Yildrim clone but better. Vivano is my starting GK now, he's only 23 or something and looks fantastic. The big problem is that with Babel leaving I have a HUGE gap up front now. Sergey Kisliy has exploded lately and looks like one of the best strikers in the World attributes wise, Arouna Kone is good but doesn't score enough and better used off the bench. I have one great young AML in Clinckemaille (he's 17 but his attributes have gone through the roof lately) but he can't play up front.

I'm looking at a few players to replace him, with almost no luck. I now have 10.5 million to spend and I think I'll spend all of it on a replacement. The guys I'm looking at are...

Betinho : Dadamafia's favourite, but just out of my price range
Hatem Ben Arfa : Even younger but just as good as Babel. Unfortunately he's at Lyon and they won't take 10 million for him.
Jefferson Farfan : I could get him for free but he's not interested in signing for me yet.
Javier Portillo : From Real Madrid, I could get him for 4 million but I don't see him as being any better than Kone
Markus Rosenberg : He's playing for Ajax 2 for some reason but I'm very very tempted. He's right footed but I'll work around that.

If anyone has any suggestions (i.e left footed attackers/strikers for under 10 million) let me know.

I laughed so hard when I heard that one because I know how much you loved that guy on your side.

Left footed strikers? I'll give you names of some young guys.

Evandro Roncatto- Brazilian (guarani or milan) ..looks pretty solid overall.

Barreto- Brazilian (Udinese)- 20 long shots, 20 finishing, 20 first touch...not very fast though so I would pick the others unless...

Roger- Brazilian (Sao Paulo)- nice overall guy like roncatto...I'd go with him.

...I think I scout too many brazilians.

On another note, I followed suit and began to develop a new tactic. Been splendid so far. not as many shots as before but just as many goals plus the possession against normal teams is like 52-55% while against top teams is usually 50/50. Plus, my defense is a bit stronger. Will test this some more and tell you how it goes.

You and your Brazilians  thanks I'll check them out. Roncatto was sold to some fairly big team for 9.5 million recently in the game so I won't be able to get him.

I started a new game with Racing. That suck ass, they only beat Racing B 1-0 in a friendly and Racing U-18's like 4-3. Plus I only gots 1mil in transfer budget, so I'll probably sell the bums I have in the B side and have the few remaing A side players put into the B team for minutes.

Well, over the past few weeks i've been getting involved in this game too. (Y) Here's my story.

I created Nick Barnshaw as a player, and Steve Nash as a pass-first midfielder just for kicks. I started the game unemployed with the intention of following these 2 players.

To my shock they don't have the ratings i gave them in the editor. I didn't know that ok.

So Barnshaw is on the Roma team, 18 years old, and getting no time whatsoever. Steve Nash is getting limited time as a backup for Middlesborough reserves. So i'm thinkin, woohoo, isn't this fun. A few months pass and i decide it's time to get a job as a manager or i'm going to have a lot of boredom on my hands while i follow Barnshaw and Nash's progress.

After applying for a few jobs, English League Two's Stockport decide to give me a chance.

I started off with basically no idea how the game works, just messing around a lot. I played around with releasing media comments and having fun with other features. My team is in the bottom half of the table when they're expected to be in the top half, and they're in financial crisis (i suppose this is why they fired the previous guy).

After being forced to coach a bunch of games, i start to warm up to the players, and realise the team's weaker and stronger players. So now i'm starting to want to play it a bit more.

I lost the first few games, but now i'm starting to win half the games, and draw the other half, along with losing a few also. So we're sorta on track. (Apart from sucking and being in financial red alert).

A few months pass and i'm addicted to the team and am totally devoted to really improving them. So after seeking Jae's advice about how the hell to get out of hell, i sell an expensive contract that was playing for the reserves for whatever reason (who then went on to win player of the month with his new team :x), i also sold my top earning goal keeper.

While this helped the monthly expenditure slightly, i'm still totally rooted and the team's finance is only going downhill.

Then everything changed. Here's how. I started winning a few games, partly thanks to my 2 young strikers. One of the guys, Michael Malcolm or Malcolm Michael or something, his value shoots through the roof. He was like 20 or something and had great potential, valued at roughly 450k.

So what i do is sell the mofo. For whatever reason, brighton felt the need to give me 550k for him. So i push "heck yes!!" (or was that 'accept') and my dept problems are solved. I also will get 20% of his next sale. (He's only valued at 120k these days though.)

And the finincial graph looked like this

Code: Select all
                                  /
                                 |
 \                              /
  \                            |
    \                         /
     \                       /
-     |                     /
      \                     |
        \                  |
          \               |
           \      _      /
             _  /   \   /
                     \_/

However due to a 3.5 million dollar loan the dickhead manager before me left us with, we still have to pay 90k a month, which is killing us despite our safe finincial position.

A few months pass, and things are going downhill again

Code: Select all
                                  /\
                                 |   \
 \                              /      \
  \                            |          \
    \                         /             \
     \                       /                \
-     |                     /                  \  /\
      \                     |                   |/  \
        \                  |                         \
          \               |                             \
           \      _      /
             _  /   \   /
                     \_/

In the meantime though, i decide to focus on winning games. So what i do is, with the help of Jae's advice on how to search for players effectively, i search for players effectively. I sign a talented striker called Anthony Elding who is a star long range shooter, and great finisher, for only 25k (he's valued at 500k these days) along with a 19 year old striker. The guy puts us on record winning streaks, unbeaten runs and crowd attendance over the next few months. We climb from around 15th-18th, to around 6th-3rd... (From here on is news to you Jae :o) then eventually we end up finishing our second season with Stockport 2nd in League Two and are promoted to League One! This is basically the best news in my virtual life with Stockport. Because it means great things for the future of the fans and players of stockport, along with my job. Various media articles are released about Stockport's unexpected success. I am interviewed by a journalist, and a player from another team even makes some positive comments towards my efforts saying something like "Stockport should look to hold onto Nick Barnshaw for as long as possible" (Yes, there are two versions of Barnshaw, one is a player and one is a manager. :P ) The board has full confidence in me, i also have the fans full support. Everything is going just dandy.

However Nick Barnshaw (the player version) retires at 19 years old.

The offseason before our League One debut is an eventful one. One of our key midfielders in Hamshaw tells the media of his need to go to a bigger club in order to get more success. When we basically tell him to get fucked in the nicest way possible, he puts in a transfer request. :x However his value is rather large at 350k or so, so we grant his request, and sell him for 450k! Which was a huge boost, because it meant it put us back in financial safety aswell as giving us enough money to spend on an even better midfielder.

We start the season with a 3-0 win over Rochdale! Things couldn't be going any better.

Things change when we start getting offers for our goal keeper. We get an offer for our young yet solid goal keeper, someone Spencer (i forget his first name atm). Somebody offered 85k for him, and we consider it, but our lack of any other goal keeping talent in the club forces us to reject.

Then some other dickhead offered 4k. So we decided to humour him back and negotiate the offer. We ask for 1 Mil lol. Ladies and gentlemen of FM, next time you get an offer for someone you don't plan on selling, atleast offer an ridiculous negotiation. Because some wanker team actually decided to get involved in the bid and offered me 925k :lol::lol: So i push "heck yes!!" again and our team is in financial heaven with us making so much profit it's ridiculous. Just after that, on our search for right wing midfielders, we were rejected a lot. However one guy who didn't reject us was League Two star Ricky Lambert. We sign the pass-first star (he's better than Steve Nash!).

But now we face a massive problem. We have no goal keeper!

But now our finincial graph looks like this

Code: Select all
                                                                |
                                                                |

                     \_/

Also, the 3.5M loan the manager before me took where i had to pay 90k a month, is now over. So the team's financial situation is now fine.

The only thing we can do is play our GK Sam McEwan from the reserves team. This guy is the definition of shit. So we're in trouble. While we play him we apply for a loan of a decent young GK. And we are hammered in our next game 4-1 or something, pretty much due to having such a sucky GK. He made so many mistakes. :x We need a new GK, and bad.

(In other news, Steve Nash is signed to a rival team hehe and finally starts getting time.)

After a few days of waiting for a reply, our loan offer is rejected! :x And we lose horribly a bunch more games with our piece of shit goal keeper.

We apply for another loan for young yet solid GK Mark Howard and it's accepted. Fucking finally. However Anthony Elding is injured. :x Our franchise player is gone for a month and we lose basically all the games (with 1 or 2 draws) for a month, thanks to even more injuries to other good players also.

When he got back we managed to notch a few wins, but mostly lost because of other injuries. :x

2008 hits and some transfers come through. We get a croation 32 yr old midfielder who will be a important player. And we get Mark Howard for good (we decided to sign him), he's actually quite good.

Now we're up to today (finally  i'm sick of typing and you're sick of reading). We're currently 23rd, 28 or so games have been played, and we are battling relegation. We're currently at full strength and our last game was awesome, as we ended our losing run with a 5-0 win.

So yeah, that's that. I'm pretty sure only like 3 people will ever see this. But it's fun to type up for history's sake.

Now the team is in financial heaven. We have like 850 k left on our tranfer budget, and we're under our salary cap limit, but we're in the relegation bottom four due to some bad luck with injuries and fucking Sam McEwan. Now we're at full strength though, and we've got a new midfielder, so hopefully we'll start winning some games to avoid relegation, then in offseason i'll spend some dollaz, then next season i will hopefully do a lot better in League One.

Best post in this thread (Y) and yeah lol wtf is up with Barnshaw retiring??

Anyways I'll do a Nick-like update of my Strasbourg game...

In my last update I said

After 19 games in season 3, we're currently 8th on 34 points. That's not too much of a problem, considering the 2nd placed team is only on 38 points and we're on 4 match winning streak, in which we've scored 13 goals and conceded 1.

Well we went on a bit of a run for the next 19 games and actually finished the season in 2nd place, only 2 points behind Monaco. We had a game against them with only 5 games left but they beat us 3-1 and stayed ahead the whole time. One of the players I had just signed in the last update was a goalkeeper called Emiliano Vivano, who was playing in the Brescia reserves for one of the worst teams in Serie A. He completely dominated, averaging 1.0 more than my last keeper... and was probably the reason we won so many games.

With the 2nd place finish that guaranteed us qualification for the Champions League, which is a huge deal. I wanted to trim the squad down and rely more on my youth players that I had been developing since I first took over. I sold Arouna Kone and Rick Kruys for a combined 21 million and used the money to bring Anatoliy Tymoschuk... probably the Ukraine's second best player, and a replacement for Massimo Mutarelli who I decided to release even though he was doing really well.

I also decided to pick up some re-enforcements, since I didn't want to be left with shit players in case of injuries. I signed Leece winger Vyacheslav Hleb, he can play in the midfield or up front so I figured he'd be good off the bench. I also picked up a brilliant 18 year old French goalkeeper called Samir Kouakbi who's not quite as good as Viviano but also won't let me down if he has to fill in. I signed a bunch of youth players to try and strengthen the junior ranks, but the major signings were yet to come.

With a huge transfer budget and some holes in the team, I went out and got the following...

Julien Cetout (2.5 million) DC, DM, 20 years old
- Looks full of potential, he's a bench player for now.

Whoshington (1.8 million) SC, 18 years old
- Could've been a World Class striker at 15 in the game, but I had to wait a few years before I could buy him.

Mirko Vucinic (16.5 million) SC, 25 years old
- My first major signing as Strasbourg manager. Vucinic is an Italian international who was co-owned by Juventus and Inter Milan. Cost a fortune but well worth it.

Didier Zokora (9.25 million) DC, DM, 27 years old
- Defendi was a weak link in the defense and I've been trying to sign Zokora since day 1. Cost a fair bit but I finally got him.

Nicky Hunt (7.25 million) DR, 25 years old
- I needed a right side defender and Hunt looked the best choice. Admittedly he's been absolutely garbage since I got him and I'm looking to sell him as soon as possible.

Hatem Ben Arfa (11 million) AMLRC, 21 years old
- Someone I've wanted all along, Lyon finally cracked and sold him to me. He's been fairly average but he's too young and too good to just give up on.

So we're currently 11 games into the season, as it stands we've won 9, drawn 2 and lost 0. We're sitting 1st in the league by 8 points and looking good so far. Ryan Babel is playing in Deportivo, hope the bastard breaks a leg or something.

Our first venture into the Champions League came against Benfica. Somehow we managed to draw a group with Benfica, Ajax and Chelsea. So we're pretty much fucked, or so I thought. We came out and blasted Benfica off the park, winning 3-0. Not as lucky against Chelsea though, they beat us 1-0 on a Frank Lampard penalty. Cheats, we had them the whole game.

Anyways as a comparison, here's my line-up now compared to my first season...

2005: (15 wins, 8 draws, 15 losses, 8th place)

GK: Nicolas Puydebois (now at Sunderland)

DL: Arthur Boka (now at Lens)
DR: Moncef Zerka (now at Rouen)
DC: Fabian McCarthy (still with Strasbourg, transfer listed)
DC: Cedric Kante (now at Vitesse)

MR: Pascal Johansen (now at Le Mans)
ML: Stefan Por Poroarson (now at Colchester)
MC: Carlos Martins (now at Modena)
MC: Alexander Farnerud (now at Besiktas)

SC: Mikael Pagis (retired)
SC: Amara Diane (now at GiL Vicente)

2008: (9 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses, 1st place)

GK: Emiliano Viviano

DL: Giorgio Chiellini
DR: Nicky Hunt
DC: Didier Zokora
DC: Vagner Leonardelli

MR: Vyacheslav Hleb
ML: Everton
MC: Anatoliy Tymoschuk
MC: Hatem Ben Arfa

SC: Sergey Kisliy
SC: Mirko Vucinic

If these two teams played each other I think the 2008 side would win really easily. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they beat them 5 or 6-0. The team's exponentially better, and the young guys coming through look great aswell.

Yeah, he must've had dual nationality and been picked by Italy first.

Just beat Ajax 4-1 in the Champions League :hump:

Football Manager ate my laptop. That's my story. I had this awesome Real Madrid thing going on and then it fried my computer (not really, but like ate the RAM) and my computer was running laggy and I forgot to back-up my save and now it's gone because the Hard Drive won't reboot.

So I'll have to get a re-image and then start a new game (N) .

I was playing my game all day today, about 4 hours worth. Mum's husband comes home and turns the power out to fix some electrical stuff and forgets to warn me - i lose everything.

I was losing all my games anyway i guess, i'm still sitting second last (though i did manage to win a game 5-0). But now i can't be fucked playing it again for a while. (N)

I've been playing it again, but now my best player, Anthony Elding, has expressed interest in playing for a bigger club. :x :x :x If he leaves i'm fucked. Any suggestions on how to respond so that he doesn't leave? I'm tempted to tell him that he's not going anywhere, but i get the feeling he'll respond negatively to that.

I'm not sure how this appears in the english version, but tell him you don't want him to leave because he's on of your best players. Or something like that  I haven't played in a while.

Just dont accept any offers. I normally just let him talk crap and ignore it. Over time he will calm down and not be unsettled anymore. If you really like him then thats the time you offer him a long term contract. :)

Thats what I do with my young guys. Every summer the big clubs try to come in and steal them but if you get through that everthing will be fine. (y)

Big news. I end up telling him he's one of my better players and that i want him to stay. The good thing was he settled down. The bad thing was he piped up even worse a month later. :x To the point where he's officially unhappy.

Then i got an offer from Southhampton for 2.2M  So after much thought, i put him on transfer listed and sold him to southhampton (After pushing the offer up to 2.4M + 20% of next sale :cheeky: ) The strange thing was i checked his 'personal' before i clicked accept and it said 'wants to remain at club'... i was like wtf... now you tell me... and all his teammates got pissed at me for 'mistreating' a teammate. But i'd already made up my mind and got used to the idea of being much richer, and i sold him.

Then i signed a young striker who's first name is 'Mehmet' and his last name is also 'Mehmet'... so his name is 'Mehmet Mehmet' So i nicknamed him 'Mehmet' cos i figure one 'Mehmet' is enough.

He's pretty decent. Except that i payed 1.8 mil for him. (N) He wasn't worth that come to think of it. He's a good players and all, a few 18's and 19's and 20's in his stats. But not where it counts - he can't shoot. But i'll train him up and he'll probably be awesome. Also now he's value is at 85k :x So i payed 1.7M more than i should have! Although, after a game where he scored 4 goals in a 5-0 win, his value increased to 95k.

Update: I redid the Elding situation. :P

I went back a few months to were i saved just before i sold elding. The plan was to sign a different young striker than Mehmet, basically because i payed 1.7M than i should have for him.

Except that everything fucken panned out the same way again. Yeah, i signed Mehmet again. I couldn't help it.

The positive is that this time i sold Elding for 2.7 mil (!) + 20% of next sale. I also bought Mehmet for 200k less. (Y)

Also my team's going better in the standings now for whatever reason. We're coming 1st in League Two. Nobody can stop us. We would probably be mid-table in League One with the team we have now.

Also, i don't normally save and go-back and load. That's basically a form of cheating in my eyes and it kinda spoils your game. It's the only time i've done it, and i'm at September 2008.

  you tool.

Anyways I'm getting to the end of my Strasbourg game. We're first in the league after 28 games, have only lost 1 game all season and are ahead by about 20 points. In the Champions League we drew AC Milan in the first knock-out phase, and despite going up 1-0 against them through Kisliy they scored just before full time so the second leg will be in Milan at 1-1.

The second leg against Milan we lost 2-1, we were missing 1/2 of our starting team so I completely expected it. Regardless of that, we dominated the league and with 8 games to go wrapped up the trophy. We're in the finals of both other French league trophies aswell.

Since we're doing so well I've kinda decided that's about as far as I'm going to get with Strasbourg. Sure I could try to win the Champions League but I think I'd get bored smashing everyone in the Ligue One, and with 30 million + in transfer funds I'd probably buy too many guys and ruin the team. I was linked with Dortmund, Tottenham, Sevilla and AS Roma, as tempted as I was I didn't wanna leave the team before the end of the season. Those positions were all filled, but I saw that the Lazio job was unstable so I declared an interest.

Literally three days later, they fired their current manager and offered me the job. They also said I could become the manager AFTER the season had ended. Not only that, they are giving me 29 million in transfer funds and a huge wage budget. The team is quality, I have no idea why they're coming 11th in Serie A and there's HEAPS of great Brazilians there. With the money I might buy back a few of my Strasbourg guys, along with Leo Messi who is unhappy at Barca. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
