probably complicated that, but seems right to me....

Glad to have you on board. You , my friend, are correct. :D

On we move to the next riddle:

Gaze at this sentence for just about sixty seconds and then explain what makes it quite different from the average sentence.
Quick! What is it?

Wed Feb 15, 2006 10:21 pm

it contains all 26 letters of the alphabet

Great! :D :D :D

Moving on:

They call me a man, but I'll never have a wife.
I was given a body, but not given life.
They made me a mouth, but didn't give me breath.
Water gives me life and sun brings me death.
What am I?

Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:36 pm

A flower or vegetable of some kind. One that has 'man' in the name.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:39 pm

A snow man!

Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:41 pm

If i was googling, you'd think i would've got the last bunch that i've attempted right...

Spot on. :D :D :D Well done.

Next up:

A certain crime is punishable if attempted but not punishable if committed. What is it?

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:26 am

Suicide?

Hmm... I must start finding some harder ones... You are correct
.

Let's see:

Here is a group of three. One is sitting down and will never get up. The second eats as much as is given to her, yet is always hungry. The third goes away and vanishes never to return. What are they?

Not accusing, just wondering. To me that answer seems impossible to just come up with, pretty much the hardest riddle in the whole thread.

You are standing by a river with a 5-gallon jug and a 3-gallon jug, but you need exactly 4 gallons of water. Using only the 2 jugs you have, how can you measure out 4 gallons?

That one was used in Die Hard 3: Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Are they some kind of statue(s) Dweaver?

No. You can find them in some homes. And all three go together.

Thu Feb 16, 2006 10:07 am

:?

Still thinking. If it's some kind of Greek-only thing, you better watch out :x

Less smart-ass comments, more thinking. Works for most people.

Additional hint: If the first one is doing what it is supposed to be doing, the other two follow suit, If it is not, it just stands there all alone.

You think? I thought it was one of the easier ones... The last line gave it away for me... It made me think it had something to do with winter or melting, then the first line let me know it was a man... So i just put 2 and 2 together. :)

EDIT: This next riddle makes me think of some kind of plant. But i'm stumped... :|

It's a oven/gaspit. It produces fire & from fire comes smoke.

The oven just sits there, the fire eats the more you 'feed' it & the smoke vanishes.

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:15 pm

:? Damn you're good Jack

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:19 pm

His hints are pretty good, I just sat here & checked off all the stuff we had in our house.

I was thinking sound system, since it sits there, you feed it CD's & it plays music that vanishes but you can't forever feed it CD's.

I had 'stove' in mind, but it'll have to do. You are the winner. :D :D :D

Last one for tonight:

I have two rings, and I move by request.
If the mixture is not right, I just sit at rest.
What am I?

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:21 pm

Preacher/justace of the peace at a weading?

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:21 pm

Hooped ear-rings? (It's 3.30 a.m. tis the first thing that came to mind.)

Edit: How can you mix a preacher?

Thu Feb 16, 2006 12:23 pm

Nope, to both.

Metal is involved, though.
