i watched the texas chainsaw massacre a few nights ago, the newer one made in 2003 (i think). i honestly didnt get it, the killing was pretty mad, but i just didnt understand it and get a grasp of it

has anyone seem the final destination series? i watched the second one the other night and i think its a great series

The first one really caught me by surprise. The second & third one you knew what was going to happen, so the surprise element kinda wore off.

The deaths are quite creative though.

Saw Trade recently, a movie with Kevin Kline about human trafficking between Mexico and the US (not sure a lot of people heard about it). Pretty powerful stuff, worth watching.
Also Blood Diamond, which is pretty amazing, and Perfume (based on Patrick Suskind's novel), which isn't bad etiher, nice and creepy.

Not too keen on period films but The Prestige is alright.

Twists and turns got me glued, not knowing which is the asshole (villain) of the film kept me from switching the channel.

Christian Bale carried himself so did Michael Caine. Scarlet Johansson's not bad to the eyes either for a period film. David Bowie is electrifying in his role. Yeah and some guy named Hugh Jackman was pretty decent opposite Bale.

Not bad, not bad at all.

Actually, I wasn't as hooked to The Illusionist as I was with the Prestige. I don't know, it juts feels "cheaper", almost like it uses too many tricks that have been used more successful before (especially at the end). I thought Norton was good, but not as amazing as usual.
The Prestige is just close to a masterpiece though, Nolan is just freaking gifted.

The Prestige was great, I enjoyed it more than the Illusionist because the first one it's about the magicians while the second is more about the love story.

I also liked The Prestige better (mostly because of the cast. I'm a huge fan of Michael Caine's) but I thought The Illusionist was really good too.

[spoiler]Totally unexpected ending: it's amazing how throughout the whole movie, they make you think the Prince is the bad guy and then you find out about Eisneheim's plan. [/spoiler]

I also liked the fact that they never explained any of his tricks, leaving the viewers wondering how the hell he does it during the whole film and after.

I agree the movie's mostly about the love story and the bits regarding it directly are kinda boring, but that's the only bad thing I can think about. Maybe the fact that the movies were released within such short period of time has something to do with people feeling The Illusionist's "cheaper".

On a side note, I saw Into The Wild and Charlie Wilson's War. Loved Into The Wild. Charlie Wilson's War had its moments, it was alright, nothing I would recommend.

As, for whatever strange reason, controversially said earlier in the thread:

The Illusionist was so incredibly boring, poorly written and terribly done in every way. The pacing of the film was an amazing pile of shit. Yes, let's spend an hour and a half with meaningless meandering, then rip through the entire plot in five minutes. Would have worked better if two of the main characters were played by people who could act.

Watched 'Into The Wild', and that was a fantastic movie. Loved it (y)

I wish Hal Holbrook had won Best Supporting Actor last night. And I was surprised the movie wasn't even nominated (I thought it was better than Juno and Atonement. Haven't seen the other ones yet).

Finally saw American Gangster last night. it was pretty gangster. a pretty good movie, a solid veteran cast (except maybe T.I. & Common lol) Denzel excellent as always.

I didn't think it was better than Atonement. Juno okay, but Atonement not so much.

Also he wasn't that spectacular to win the Oscar for his role, Javier deserved it a lot more compared to Hal Holbrook. Great as he was, his role was not as impactful as Javier's.

Goes without saying that this ofcourse is just my opinion.

Eastern Promises and American Gangster were easily the biggest snubs. It pissed me off to see 2 outstanding movies like that get almost completely ignored.

I saw Rambo last Saturday night....I can't say I was ever a Rambo fan in past, but boy was this a good action movie....everything that you could ask for from a guy's flick....the movie even pulled some heartstrings early on & made you really hate the bad guys....I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a good action movie....I wouldn't take your mrs or kids to it though, far too graphic for them....
