this is looking good :P I'm really glad they're pumping up team tendencies & increasing the amount of player tendencies....I also like the fact that in association, they compare your player to league averages, which will be good down the line (Y) I can't wait for the game, guess I only gotta wait another 4 weeks or so :|

Tue Sep 26, 2006 1:34 pm

I called around today, eb games will have it for tomarrow, can't wait. Though I don't know if i'll be able to get it tomarrow, and if I do get it tomarrow i wont get much playing time, cause i got a football game toamrrow and a test wednesday.

No one seems to have 2k7 except game reviewers and the release date was 25th on ebgames.

I’m going to make this really simple: this is the greatest basketball game I’ve ever played. This is also the greatest one year leap I’ve ever seen in a series. I wasn’t as crazy about NBA 2K6 as many of the fans and other reviewers were. I felt it was a decent but flawed game and it looked great when compared to the competition but average on its own. NBA 2K7, however, fixed almost every single flaw in last year’s game and add an unbelievable amount of animations and features. Due to this, I’m awarding this game my first ever 10 out of 10. Now before some of you go crazy and yell “How can you give this game a 10 out of 10 when you acknowledge it has flaws?!” understand what a 10 out of 10 really means. According to the Operation Sports ratings system a 10 out of 10 is a “A rare and singular achievement in sports gaming. A 'must-buy' for any serious gamer.” I cant think of a better way to describe NBA 2K7.

I think it worth 9 or 9.5 but not 10,

IGN 360 Review:

http://au.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/n ... es;title;4

8.2/10

the reviewer really got stuck into the game & looked for negatives, but I guess it's his job....FT thing will just be about learning the player's shooting style & you can always adjust slider slightly to make it easier while you're learning....I wouldn't mark the game down for that....although the final thing he said probably summed up everything that I need to know at a minimum to buy the game (although I'm expecting better):

Those who were expecting a big leap from last year will likely be disappointed, but fans expecting only a slight improvement, or anyone looking for a great, well-rounded basketball game, will be pleased with NBA 2K7.

I'd call NBA 2k6 an 8.5/10 game....I'm hoping 2k7 is a 9.0/10.0 game....the animations & signature shots really sound impressive & will be great to see in the game to add the personal feel of the NBA back into a gaming title....I'm been waiting for the Shimmy Shake to return for years  in future versions I would like to see them get rid of 24/7 (they can keep 1-on-1, 5-on-5 etc streetball) & concentrate on improving Association and further tweak & improve gameplay AI....will be interesting to see if they adjust anything to groundwork of the game in future years to capitalise on next gen....hopefully so, but hopefully not at the expense of the game like EA....

just read a reader review, seems to have a few new tidbits from game....you can never really tell the validity of reader reviews, but this one is alright:

http://au.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/n ... ?id=366604

final word is to not trust gamespot too much, they rated NHL 07 at an 8.2 & the game is shithouse....I returned it the very next day, something I've never done before....they made game sound good & is wasn't....it had a shot stick that was great....but that was it....no defense, no heart, no soul, no spirit of the game....but yep, enough blabber, looking forward to the real reviews, from the gamers....

and Australian release is October 20....for 360 that is....exactly one day after NBA Live 07 (for 360, not current gen)....

I'm getting it today when I get off work. I've never been so pumped for a game before.

Wed Sep 27, 2006 5:15 am

anybody got it for ps2/xbox? how does it play compared to next-gen 2k7/current gen Live?

I really like the next gen version, but I don't have a 360

yo, i just got the game for xbox. didn't check out association and all that stuff yet, i was just messing around in practice mode but this is what i noticed:

- layups and dunks are virtually the same.
- added some new crossovers
- there are 20 signature shots in the game -- only ones i accounted for so far are: iverson (they just gave him the generic off balance shot from 2k6), carter, wade, lebron, shaq, kobe, mcgrady, duncan, nowitzki, brand, garnett, marion (hideous, hideous, hideous but on point), anthony (they gave him carter's jumpshot). haven't figured out the rest yet. noticeable exceptions = pierce, hamilton, ray allen, yao,
- commentary is the same, so is the pre-game shit. the toyota truck is still there.
- i'm loving the new 'default' camera - kinda zooms in and out on the action
- fastbreak is improved too, it's not that much of a clusterfuck anymore
- computer's pretty smart now -- if you double someone, they will find the open man and drive straight for the hole.
- new passing animations, noticed a lot of "jump catching" (live 2004)

but yeah, i'm kinda disappointed. i thought there were going to be new layup/dunk animations but thats not the case.

essentially, you're getting the same game + a few signature jumpshots and crossovers.

I guess NBA Live series is getting real close to losing it's huge fanbase. Simply because it sucks big time compared to NBA 2K7 (or even 2K6). 2K Sports team is working their butts off to give us the best experience possible, when at the same time, EA Sports team has this stupid "little steps" attitude, tweaking (let's face it) minor things and then advertising unimportat stuff like "possibility to play one on one when waiting for a game to load" (nobody really cares about stuff like that). So, it's huge impovements (2K Sports) vs medicore tweaks (EA Sports) every year.
The gap between NBA 2K and NBA Live wasn't that big three or four years ago. But today NBA Live 07 is a piece of crap compared to NBA 2k7. Even graphics wise NBA 2k7 kicks butt of NBA Live 07, which is the first time in history of these two franchises when one can't argue about which title has better graphics - simply because there's nothing to argue about, NBA 2k7 wins, hands down.

The sad thing is - PC players are left behind with no NBA 2k7 available on PC platform. That's sucks but it's understandable - 2K Sports is not as big as EA and they lack the manpower (probably money for hardware base and additional offices too) to start working on producing NBA 2k version for the most complicated and challeging platform on the market (which is PC). Maybe in the future, when NBA 2k will outsell NBA Live (which is very probable right now) the developement of NBA 2k for PC will start. We'll see about that...

Right now, if you own a PC and you would like to play NBA 2k7 the only way for you to do it is buy a console. Simple and painful as that...
But from my point of view it's not that bad. I'm getting old (26 years right now) and I'm not playing games as often as I were in the past. To be honest, 90% of today's PC games are dull, boring and warmed over as hell in my opinion. Pretty soon I'll be using my PC only for work and, maybe, to play two or three strategy or simulation games from time to time. That's why I'm not going to upgarde my PC in a near future and, when the time for upgrade comes, I'm not planing on buying the best hardware money can buy anymore - it's just not worth it. I've put a lot of dough into upgrading my PC in the past, way too much if you ask me. After thinking about it I got to a conclusion that is was a mistake. I am a computer graphics guy and right now Photoshop is running like a charm on my machine. Newest games, like "Company of Heroes", are still playable in high details, 1024x786 resolution - therefore, I don't need a better PC right now. What I need is a console. Console, which will cost me something around the price of a good graphics card and a new motherboard and will serve me for much loger time than a fast graphics card with decent CPU mounted on good motherboard. So, what I need is a tandem of PC capable of running Photoshop and few games I play (most of them being simulations or strategy games) with console (Xbox 360 - my choice) which, for a reasonable price, will give me the possibility to play the best games I would like to play (NBA 2k7, Project Gotham 3) without worrying about performance. That's it...

And to finish this way too long post, link to some HD videos of this great game: http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2743

Oh, and forgive me any mistakes I've made writing this, english is not my native language.

Wed Sep 27, 2006 7:59 am

it seems like current gen people aren't happy....I'm really surprised you guys expected anything more than minor tweaks....they've been pushing next gen & hopefully that is where we see more improvement....looking forward to Yohance & a few others give their opinions on the game when they get the chance  I like him, have my 360 mainly for sports titles like 2k7

Well..having spend 4 hours playing this game...i can honestly say it's the best basketball video game i've ever played. My only gripes is the shitty commentry....and it's a victim of it's own smooth animation. Somtimes when the animation breaks it looks awkward but for the most part it plays lifelike. I havent really dabbled in association yet though...i've only been playing exhibition and 24/7

First time I won't purchase game on release date. buying it Saturday morning for certain though. J.23 ready for live??

The X wrote:it seems like current gen people aren't happy....I'm really surprised you guys expected anything more than minor tweaks....

If you are refering to what I wrote - I was talking about next-gen NBA Live, not current gen. It's pretty obvious that EA doesn't give a damn about current gen, it's just a thing to get couple extra bucks from people who have no choice but buy that old crap in new packaging, that's all...
So, my "huge improvements vs medicore tweaks" was all about next-gen...

Wed Sep 27, 2006 1:12 pm

Wow... This game kicks soo much ass.

Complaints:
No James White
Danny Granger looks NOTHING like Danny Granger.

Good Things:
Everything. Wow.

YOURE ON BITCH!

Wed Sep 27, 2006 1:22 pm

Theres no way it can be more realistic than Live... Live is so realistic, you can only play an 82 game season! Subs don't even get up off the bench, mainly because they don't even sit on it. Fuck EA. Do something right. 2k7, I beg you guys to go PC.

EA, If you don't make an official patch to fix this bullshit, start from scratch and I'l wait till 2010. Fuckers.

ok but for someone who has never owned a 2k game, and a Live player for 10+ years, would you suggest the current-gen over Live?

@Indy-yeah some of the faces really suck, but hey the rest of the game makes up for it.

join the club, pal. i switched over to 2k6 after the shithole that was called nba live 06. actually, i've played the 2k series since it's dreamcast days. you'll be blown away and never go back to live.

Qballer wrote:@Indy-yeah some of the faces really suck, but hey the rest of the game makes up for it.

The faces really don't suck. Some of them are really, really outstanding.

So far the really great, real looking faces that I've run across have been: Gerald Wallace, Ricky Davis, Shawne Williams, Earl Boykins, Kenyon Martin and Adam Morrison.

The really bad ones have been Danny Granger, Jeff Foster, Primoz Brezec, Randy Foye and Mike James.

Other then that, they all look good, but not superbly good.

Even the bad ones look good from the regular camera view though, the graphics really are outstanding.

I will have both. Does anyone know the release date for Australia for PS2?
