Then the program needs to change. Come on. We will win a trophy this year. Quote me on May, Phil.

I wasn't having a go at you Thierry. I was just pointing out how it was barely a master-stroke to pay big money for one of the best midfielders in the world. p.s I'm quite relaxed.

I'll be happy to quote your post in May if the table is still the same by then. I'd love our teams to be top 2 over the likes of Utd, Chelsea and Spurs. I just want to be back in the champions league. I miss waking up at 5am to watch the games.

I know man! Again, it was a joke :) Of course, not a master-stroke at all. He was an outstanding signing but not for the positions we needed. I said a central defender, but another striker wouldn't hurt.

Them Livpool fans should find a pic of Benji and hang it on Anfield.

Too early to say ofc but looks like Suarez will have no problem being the player of the season in EPL this year unless his inner vampire tries to get out again. Van Persie is most likely to be the closest competition if ManU is able to get back on track. But if this Arsenal roll continues, then Ozil might be the one as well.

BTW, when did Rooney get so awesome at free-kicks? Did I miss something here?

United won thanks to Januzaj. Expecting United fans to glorify him like what they did to Buttner last year.

United fans are more into crucifying than glorifying this year.

All is not lost for them, it is early in the season. Although getting to the top is very tough that one loss or draw can really change a club's fortune.

I just don't think Moyes can cut it. Not everybody has the balls to shine in the limelight. Only chances for MU to make it to the CL next season would be to get a new manager.

Wilshere was caught smoking a couple of days ago -- but of course he scored today. It's a wild fight against the Reds at the top!

Ya, I saw the match. Anelka took a bribe or something for sure. And the Wilshere goal was just bad luck for WBA. Still, who would have thought that Arsenal & Livpool would be top 2 fighting for the 1st spot.

If Suarez can let his football do the talking and not the off-field stuff, he should be right up there for the best player award. Especially now the English media's golden boy is in Madrid.

Of course he will need to catch up to Sturridge first.

I'll see your Buttner and raise you Federico Macheda. Scored a few game winning goals in the 08-09 season that cost Liverpool the title and hasn't been heard of since.

Will the Arsenal fans boo Suarez at the Emirates because he didn't join them? Like with Higuain. Everyone boos him anyway, so it probably won't be noticeable :P

Premier League is finally back tonight after another horribly long international break.

I'm quietly confident of the team heading to Newcastle and getting a good result. In April we went there and won 6-0 without Suarez. :)

At the very least we should draw and go top of the table again for a few hours before Arsenal beat Norwich.

First goal was a comedy with the celebration a romance.
Commentator was making love to the mic after seeing the second goal.
Ruddy got shot by a sniper during the third goal.

Funny how everyone wanted Wenger gone 2 months ago after losing to Aston Villa. Winning games is clearly the best way to silence your critics.

This season looks like it's going to be one of the closest ever. 4 points between Arsenal in 1st and Everton in 7th. 4 points between Man Utd in 8th and Norwich in 18th.

Steven Gerrard scored his 100th premier league goal against Newcastle. :applaud:

Vid of them all:

I wonder how much sleep Mertesacker will get this week knowing that SAS is coming next week. 14 goals in 9 games between them this season :applaud:

Well, Arsenal will face Chelsea in the league cup before Liverpool and that match might hurt Arsenal's fitness in the coming league fixture. Can't sit out your best players on a team like Chelsea I suppose.

Beaten by the better team. (Y)

Really annoying when the ref disallows a legitimate goal that would have made it 1-1 though. :|

I hope Jose Enrique returns soon because Cissokho looks terrible. Sakho is proving himself to be a beast though.

Suarez now the equal top scorer in the Premier League despite missing the first 5 games of the season. Insane.

Anyone else see the referee bail Chelsea out in the 95th minute with a horrible penalty decision? :x

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:59 pm

Everybody is saying Chelsea was "awarded" but ya Ramires was already on his way down, that wasn't a penalty.

Suarez is dope. But for how long til he bites? :D

SoF'nAwesome wrote:Everybody is saying Chelsea was "awarded" but ya Ramires was already on his way down, that wasn't a penalty.

The defender didn't even move towards Ramires. Even the commentators called it as a dive at the time :facepalm2:

It just annoys me because what if Chelsea only get a champions league spot by a point at the end of the season? A lot of money is at stake and idiot refs can ruin entire seasons for teams with crap decisions.

SoF'nAwesome wrote:Suarez is dope. But for how long til he bites? :D

I think (hope) that he enjoys playing too much to get another ban. Since he returned he has cut down on arguing with referees and appealing for penalties etc. Maybe he has matured a little bit over the off-season.

No doubt there will be speculation again in January about him leaving. At least his form means that if he does go we'll get a huge fee for him. If Madrid want him they'll have to pay more than they did with Bale. They set the precedent with the Bale fee and (IMO) Suarez is up there with guys like Ibrahimovic, Ribery and Bale for the best player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo at the moment.

The Arsenal vs Man Utd match today is interesting for me. On the one hand I don't want Arsenal to win and extend their lead, but on the other hand I don't want United to win and move closer to the top 4. Hopefully a draw.
