I'll not argue with Orton's attitude problems. But I'm still part of the "get the old WWE Championship belt back" people and the only way to get the old belt is to take it off from Cena.

WWE Championship Match
John Cena vs. Randy Orton

It looked like it would be Orton but then he beat down Cena at SNME and got the upper hand again on RAW, which is usually an indication that he'll be doing the job at the PPV. I pick Cena to retain, though Orton's probably going to get the belt at some point.

by the time i posted this...i don't yet know who beat who...i think...cena's gonna retain the belt...but as andrew said..at some point..there would be a posibility that orton's taking it...i see that most of the people in this thread don't like cena very much...but he's my favorite...as of now...well...since...he was faced against JBL...

Because they just replaced the WWE plate with the Rated R plate, basically the same belt. And Edge's reign lasted for a short time. I think from SummerSlam '06 to Unforgiven '06 (ain't that long).

One would hope they'd go back to the traditional design when Cena drops the belt rather than altering the design slightly as they did with Edge last year. Depending on whether Cena is booked out of the title picture upon dropping the belt it might not happen though.

yeah...as we all know...cena's becoming or should i say...already so talked-about...it's giving WWE a favor...more profit...from audiences and higher ratings...maybe...it's nearly impossible to get rid of cena in the title pictue...

why????? why?????? why all of those stupid kids - cena's fans are so happy?? why??
I'm so sad right now
Actually match was really good, Orton has showed almost all his moves. Cena has showed nothing (as always). The audience was really good. I like then they screamed "Cena sucks! Cena sucks!". And aplose 4 Orton were really louder than 4 Cena. After Cena punches, there was just a little scream of little kids' voices
And after RKO, I scream so loud with all my voice, but fuck that  Cena, his fucking FU and match is over   Fuck you WWE

If Cena won't loose his tittle at the Unforgiven, I would start to be a TNA fan. And now I'm also very angry for the Vince's "Make a lot of $$$ from stupid kids by making Cena as a champ" politic  I definlety hate that and I hope that in Unforgiven Randy Orton or Triple H will became a WWE champ (It doesn't very matter wich one of them - the most important thing is to make Cena's push smaller and make a new champ :)

How is that approach different from the marketing strategy the WWF/WWE has been employing for more than 20 years? They did the same thing with Hogan back in the 80s and it worked very well. Whether smarks like it or not, the fact remains that kids are a big part of the WWE's target audience.

As I've said before, I'm not a Cena fan but I do think it's become fashionable to hate him to the point where smarks won't give him an inch because that's the cool thing to do. It should be noted he was getting pretty good reactions when he first won the belt in 2005, it was only after the monster push began that fans started to really turn on him. Had the booking been better, I reckon there wouldn't be nearly as much Cena hatred. Less talented workers have held major championships; in Khali, one is holding one right now.

If I'm Vince McMahon and I'm deciding who to have represent my company as the champion, I'd pick the guy who appeals to a large part of the target audience (kids), sells tickets and merchandise and conducts himself like a professional rather than the guy who causes $30,000 worth of damage to a hotel room, has been suspended multiple times and whose backstage attitude and behaviour seems to rival his on-screen character. Unfortunately that has resulted in questionable booking decisions and in terms of wider fan response, hasn't worked out the way the WWE probably would have liked.

And who said to you that I used to like Hogan?? I really coudn't stand him. Well, he was an icon (and now too), but in the ring he was a loser... He was 1st wrestler in WWE of that style, he had a huge talent to act, but his wrestling definlety sucked. How wrestler appears in the ring is the most important aspect for me :) Hogan is the most overrated WWE wrestler in history

Well, actually I've started to hate Cena when he won his first U.S. title against the Big Show. So don't say it about everyone (!)

I really don't care off Orton's activity outside the WWE. The most important thing for me that he's a good wrestler, he has a talent to wrestle. Off-course, Orton is not the best in WWE, but as an athlet he's 3 trilions times better than Cena. So I was supporting Orton during his match at SummerSlam with all my heart, because I'm so tired of Cena. As I've said, I used to hate him when he was in SmackDown. But I never hated him so much as I hate him now

I didn't say anything about you liking Hogan. I was merely talking about the success the WWF/WWE has had with that strategy, so while it might not be popular with everyone it's understandable why they're doing it from a financial point of view.

The Debilash™ wrote:Well, actually I've started to hate Cena when he won his first U.S. title against the Big Show. So don't say it about everyone (!)

I didn't actually say everyone thinks that way, merely that the initial crowd reaction for Cena after winning the title was fairly positive.

I understand that, I just hate to see people who are so poorly behaved get pushes. But my point is that the WWE probably puts more trust in someone who isn't as likely to garner negative publicity.

Lashley & Great Khali sucks. Just like Cena. I woun't write why I hate Cena it's just too many time to write everything. Well, actually my favorite wrestler is Kurt Angle. I also like AJ Styles, Edge, Orton, Undertaker, HHH (despite the fact that he sucked at SummerSlam).

OK, I don't care who will be next WWE champ. It can be HHH, it can be Orton, it can be Booker, it can be Ken Kennedy. It can be any wrestler, but NOT CENA.
