Saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice on Friday, Get Him to Greek on Monday and Inception yesterday (Haven't gone to the movies for a while and had the chance to go).

The Sorcerer's Apprentice, cool special effects (the music part was great), but rather shallow. Wasn't disappointed on the movie itself, but there was a lot more potential. Usually don't like Nicolas Cage, but loved him here. Also, on some occasions, it was quite obvious it was a Disney movie, like
at the end after Balthazar died, he just couldn't die, they had to wake him up from dead. Also the final battle was rather disappointing, seemed incomplete, the awake of the dead looked cool, but they disappeared already after couple of brief moments. They could've used them a lot more. The mock character of Chris Angel etc (Horvath's assistant). was a brilliant idea actually.

Get Him to Greek, had some laughs, but don't remember exactly what I laughed about, still it was a decent flick.

Inception, wasn't planning to go to this in the first place (I don't like DiCaprio, except in "Catch me if you can"), but saw comments about it here, decided to give it a try. Brilliant movie indeed, but to be fair I was expecting slightly even more of it after reading all the reviews etc. before the movie. The casting was done great as well imo, didn't mind anyone (It was funny seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt with a serious role, as I'm mostly used to seeing him in 3rd Rock from the Sun)

To put in order:
Inception
The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Get him to Greek

All differences are very small.

Watched inception. Good movie, but I remember seeing it before. It was called eXistenZ. Inception was better, though.

It was called eXistenZ.

I did remind me of that one too, and that's another movie that I really liked. But Inception is just on another level of greatness for me.

Man two movies full of wasted potential in one day.

Kick-Ass abandoned its gritty book to hollywoodize the story about "real" superheroes. Fuck. Still entertaining, still worth the watch for Hit Girl alone.

I still hate Nicolas Cage.

Kick-Ass was way better than I thought it was gonna be actually. Nic Cage is the shit though.

I have never enjoyed nicolas cage in a part ever. He's sorta like keanu reeves to me. He has the occasional part thats written for him and "works" but he delivers every line with the same emotion.

"I'm happy" *straight faced monotone*
"I'm Sad" *straight faced monotone*
"I suck at acting" *straight faced monotone"

I know he's coppola's kid, but coppola directed: not acted dammit.

Have you seen Wild At Heart, The Weatherman, Adaptation or Leaving Las Vegas?

Re: The "Last Movie You Watched" thread

It's "Adaptation." With the PERIOD. GET IT STRAIGHT.

He's alright in Lord of War. (And he didn't ruin 8mm.)

The Weatherman, Adaptation

Lord of War

8mm

I thought he was pretty good in those too.
And also in Raising Arizona, the Coens' first movie.

I liked him in Snake Eyes.
And Face/Off.
And the ones el badman quoted.

Don't forget Leaving Las Vegas.

Watched Avatar for the first time. Pretty good.

And Face/Off.

I can't believe how many people liked that movie, I found it pathetic. Mostly because of Travolta being one of the worst actors of all times, but for the stupid ass plot too. I think I despise every single one of John Woo's movie, only Red Cliffs was okay because sort of epic I guess.

I watched that thinking that it was an action film so I really didn't mind the plot. I still enjoy scenes with the lulz from that movie...
Boat chase scene, you could clearly identify the stuntmen. 'Cage' had full hair while 'Travolta' was pretty slim.

"The Invention of Lying" was pretty funny ;)

Just Friends
Damn you Ryan Reynolds. Stop making shitty movies 5 years ago. Just go make deadpool. Nao

Shutter Island
Had no interest in it before but was pleasantly surprised. Scorcese ftw.

South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut
Watch it when I was still kid and thought it was epic, decided to watched it since I have become obsessed with South Park lately, still as epic as ever. Those songs (Kyle Mom, Up there, It's easy mmkay, Blame Canada) been giving me an LSS lately

Watched Brooklyn's Finest, which was a pretty cool and gritty cop flick.

Also saw In The Loop, an indie comedy about the involvement of UK diplomats in the decision on whether or not for the US to invade Iraq. Absolutely hilarious stuff, some of the funniest lines I've ever heard.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Awesome flick for any old school gamer geeks or fans of the comic.

The Losers

Think like A-Team but more drinking. and Zoe Saldana

Cop Out was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Kevin Smith certainly sank pretty low.
The Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins was okay, I guess it's a decent take on a classic.

Igby Goes Down

I just watched it on a local station edited of course. I don't know, it was amusing. Probably better than anything Macaulay has been in by far. And I have a weird thing for Amanda Peet, sorry. I'll probably call it amazing or something if I ponder on it, but then I read something comparing it to Catcher in the Rye and now I'm unsure if I should even admit I watched it considering what a piece of explosive diarrhea that book is.
el badman wrote:Cop Out was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Kevin Smith certainly sank pretty low.

IIRC, he directed it to get extra funding for his next film since he has serious funding problems after so many bombs. I think he explicitly said he was just directing it and it wasn't "his movie."

Watched Machete last week. went in with pretty low expectations and came out very /pleasantly surprised. Well worth the price of admission. Titties galore, Lindsay Lohan body doubles, and Miss Jessica Alba looking good (as usual) as well as Michelle Rodriguez looking smoking hot (I think it was avatar when i was like damn, who is that hot chick? and i looked it up on imdb.com and was slightly surprised that it was her)
