Yeah it was a fine show, good to see him making the best of the situation and going out on a high. Of course, part of me wishes he'd just accepted NBC's proposal but I admire him for sticking by his principles.

The weakness of his finish makes it pretty clear he wants to start up another show in the fall.
I expect great things though. "Ah, Kirk, my old friend, do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold? ... It is very cold in space!"

yep. it was somewhat anticlimactic. he had the greenlight to say what he wanted but chose the classy route. may as well let the tears flow during his last words

from I'm with Coco Facebook fan page wrote:a comment on the Oprah site from a guy at the taping of the last show. He said they cut out a bit where Andy and Conan were talking and Andy asked if Conan had heard from Jay. Conan said that Jay and he hadn't spoke since September...
Don't know if it's true and I'm too lazy just to browse pages of comments considering it's an Oprah site.

I really liked the way he went out. On one hand it would've been great if he'd railed against NBC but I admire him for taking the classy route and finishing up the way he did. He'd already taken enough shots at NBC right up until the skit with Steve Carell, there probably wasn't any need to keep it up once he switched gears from funny to heartfelt. Also, I thought it was funny that he had to explain that the "wasting NBC's money" skits were just that: skits. I've seen comments posted online about how he could be donating that money to Haiti and other worthy causes. Anyway, it's a real shame the way this has gone down but I'm sure he'll land on his feet come September.

Copied a page from Letterman's book in being diplomatic with NBC on the farewell message.
Not a bad example for Conan to emulate in leaving imho.
I'm still hoping Conan will appear on the Letterman show on September when then gag order is off.

Me too, that'd be quite an entertaining interview.

The hope that it will turn out to be a gem like this one:
lol at Johnny Carson asking how pissed David was.
or this one...
"Still pissed huh?" - Johnny Carson to Letterman

Im such a big Conan fan. Him and Jimmy Kimmel show are the only tv shows I follow on a regular basis. There is a huge huge void in my entertainment life. He is everything I want to be as a person intellectually. Such a great guy, i love his sense of humor. His humor is for people who appreciate silliness over seriousness.
Eventhough i like Kimmel show, his show is more based on him delivering the jokes and not his personality.
Jay Leno is a workaholic automobile whore.
I cant relate to the letterman show. The guy and jokes dont catch me that well at all.
If Conan could have had better guests he probably would had stayed. IDK why he didnt get good guests. maybe Leno was still hogging all his glory since being ahead of him? Who knows.

I don't think it has anything to do with Conan's performance per se, or his guests; had he agreed to the proposal he'd still be doing the Tonight Show, just starting half an hour later.
Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:22 pm
They should have just kept it as is, or keep Jay off for a few more months. The Tonight Show with Coco didn't really get a lot of time to get going.
There's no reason to stay up past 11:00 now that Conan's gone. And I don't like Letterman either, I remember trying to watch him when Conan unexpectedly took a week off for vacation, he's not funny other than the Palin joke he made which stirred controversy for a few days

Looking at Conan's past body of work, I am quite happy with his decision to leave NBC. Late Night shows aren't what they used to be back in Carson's time and I don't expect them to grow in popularity any time soon. I know he loved doing late night at 11:30, but if leaving resulted in a few more Conan-written/directed/produced shows of anything, then so be it.

Speaking of which, anyone who hasn't seen the
Lookwell pilot should give it a look sometime.

buzzy wrote:Does anyony like Craig Ferguson? I recently discoverd the Late Late Show and I honestly haven't heard much of him before. Pretty entertaining, even without all the sketches you're used from the other shows.
He's my favourite late night host now. The other night he did a show with no audience where he just talked with Stephen Fry all night. Very entertaining.
Although his show isn't on here in Aus, so I watch it on this
Youtube Channel.

Providing us with such tidbits as this:
This morning I watched Remington Steele while eating Sugar Smacks out of a salad bowl. I was naked.

How deceitful.

Pastapadre is reporting that Conan's
working towards a deal with Fox.

Good news that he'll be moving on to something else, as always I wish him success and hope that The Comedy Channel here in Australia is able to pick up the show. I wish I could catch one of the shows on his tour.

Haven't been watching much late night TV since Conan went off the air (just can't watch Jay Leno, even if he doesn't deserve all the blame) but hopefully that'll change in a couple of months...providing one of the Foxtel channels picks up his new show, the name of which has
now been announced:
