Agreed, although we all know that the elements and the engine itself was the same one used in Oblivion (like that "You cannot wait in the air." message), this game is just too great to be sterotyped as "Oblivion's Post-Nuclear Twin."

I played a little more of yet another play-through today (Broken Steel can't come soon enough) and was checking a few things out over at The Vault and noticed that there's expected to at least be a Fallout 4. Most of you were probably aware of that already but I wasn't and it was pretty cool to hear. It'll probably be a while yet but having become so addicted to Fallout 3 I'm sure I'll be getting 4 when it finally does come out.

I'm pretty positive about it. If they would do that, they would go head-on with Mass Effect 2 and ME will get its ass shoved up.

I'm usually the type to stay away from games that has the word "addiction" tagged to it, but after reading all things said about Fallout 3 (here and other sites) I'm going to buy it. Once I have the cash.

It's a worthwhile purchase if you're after a fun gaming experience with a lot of replay value. I'd hate to be hooked on it if I had no self-control but even so, an hour's worth of play can easily turn into two if you've got nothing else to do at that time.

I got both Operation Anchorage and The Pitt installed in the F3 directory, but it seems not to be working as the new stuff don't show up. And every time I run Fallout 3 I get to check the Anchorage and Pitt checkboxes. Wonder what's wrong.

I don't, which is weird. I read though that a quest would pop out, like that of Oblivion, but nothing happens.

Double-post, I got it to work. I had to download the newest patch.

The Pip Boy got the signals though the Pitt and Anchorage checkboxes loose their "checks" everytime I run the game.

Interesting, reminds me a little of what Rockstar did with GTA once they had the GTA3 engine in place. Something to tide us over until Fallout 4 perhaps, worth keeping an eye on.

3.5 hours a day? Well, I did the same because the game was damn cool. I did that with GTA IV, too. You will gradually play less as time goes on, though.

My obsession (for lack of a less worrying word) since finishing just about everything - certainly all the marked quests - has been creating and levelling up the perfect character in anticipation of playing a longer game with Broken Steel. I'm trying to find the smartest way to build a character's abilities; with the Comprehension perk and all the skill books scattered around the wasteland as well as the skill perks, you can conserve skill points at each level because there's other ways to max out to 100. Mind you, it's probably not worth maxing out any skill that you don't really put to use; I prefer Small Guns, Lockpick, Repair and Speech to be at 100 with Science, Medicine, Big Guns and Sneak being the others I focus on. It's also worth having at least 25 in Explosives so that you can finish "The Power of the Atom" one way or another, or at least high enough that you can boost it to 25 with clothes/chems.

I have doubts though, the way Obsidian made KoTOR II and NWN2, makes me not that optimistic regarding this news. Both Obsidian games feature big-time flaws:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a released, unfinished game.

Neverwinter Nights 2, even when patched, has plenty of bugs that affect the main quest plot line. (example, I have acquired an item critical to the plot, but once I leave the area the game will tell me that I cannot leave "because I don't have the item" even if it's in my inventory.)

But I'm hoping for the best though. Feargus Urquhart knows Fallout more than anyone.

From the sounds of it there should be enough (especially with the respawning and whatnot) added by Broken Steel to level up to 30 if you're already at 20 though I've been keeping a new game where I'm already at around Level 13 despite having a lot of quests left to compete (including almost all of the main quest) which I might run through all the way to Level 30. It'll take a while to get to the new stuff though so I'll probably just take one of my saves near the original ending and play through to Broken Steel's quests (most likely starting with one of the ones I have right before the ending).

Can't help but read the Broken Steel article on The Vault.

My F3 seems to be stoned now I think. After a few minutes the game drops its frame rate at a low, and leads to the game to freeze. It wasn't like this before, as I was running it on the same unit at Ultra High. Now it's all whacked up even at Low settings.

Just figured out that it's not only Fallout who gets the frame rate drop, but all next-gen games installed in my unit.

Oh crap.
