I still don't think she's all that bony but she is pretty slender these days so I see where you're coming from.

well Carla looks nice..

One Bahama mama please

Fine conclusion to the two-parter, perhaps a little too sappy for some people's tastes but I liked it. No one was particularly annoying and the Bill Lawrence cameo was pretty funny.

Sad voice:

I don't like how it's endinginginging.....

2 episodes left, this past one though was classic imo

I don't know about classic, a repeat viewing may be in order for it to jump up my personal list but a fine episode nevertheless. They sure turned Sean into a boring whiny jerk though.

Which I loved since I didn't like Sean.

Neither did I, though I guess he had his moments and served his purpose. I just found him a bit too annoying in the last episode.

second to last episode last night, with the last one tonight

again, I didnt like it, too depressing since I have really taken to scrubs over the past couple of years. looks like they are going all out for tonights finale though with guess appearances and such.

Will it return for another season?

Re: Scrubs Thread

Thu May 07, 2009 12:09 am

Nothing confirmed, but if they continue it Bill Lawrence, JD and Carla won't be in it

Re: Scrubs Thread

I thought it was great, plenty of laughs though there was a bittersweet feeling to it but I think that's appropriate given the series is wrapping up. I'm sorry to see it end the way it's bounced back this season but for me it's going out on a high and I'm eagerly anticipating the finale.

Re: Scrubs Thread

that was touching, as good of an ending that they could produce with the unknowingness of future seasons

kinda peeved that they did that with the Janitors name though, so we still dont know

Nice episode, nothing really unexpected, but they did a good job at raising the level of emotional tension to finally reach that ending sequence.
I really don't see how they could return after that though, definitely looked like a series finale to me.

Very touching ending, can't really imagine how they gonna return after that.
Very funny episode as well, you gotta love the part where Cox confesses how he feels about JD.
LMAO @ JD and Turk's children getting engaged.

I thought it was fantastic, an appropriate ending to a show that lifted its game for the final run. The JD/Dr Cox saga was wrapped up perfectly with the curtain being pulled back on Dr Cox's true opinion of JD but only through trickery. I think with some of the character development that's taken place it could've been done differently but it was still very apt given the circumstances. JD's film fantasy at the end was great too, ambiguous enough that not everything is wrapped up and the characters' "lives" go on even when the show doesn't, while still making some strong suggestions about what possibly happens next.

I was also a bit disappointed in the reveal/non-reveal of the Janitor's name but it's commitment to the joke, I'll give them that. Maybe it's better that way, it keeps us guessing and speculating.

Great callbacks, touching without being too sappy (the guest appearances that JD "saw" again walking out of Sacred Heart was great too) and still funny, it was the kind of finale I was hoping for. Seth MacFarlane and his frat boys may hate the show, but I suppose it's their nature to hate anything that is well-written and doesn't rely on the crutch of three minutes of Conway Twitty. This was quality television and like I've said before, I'm sorry to see it end.

However, now that they've had this finale...let it be. If it's going to continue, let it be a spinoff rather than a Season 9 of Scrubs. You can't do a finale like this and then continue on. By all means spinoff the interns or whatever, but let it be a seperate show. The ties will still be there (much like Frasier to Cheers) so they can still sell it as "If you liked Scrubs, you won't want to miss (whatever)" but it won't actually be Scrubs. I think that would turn away fans much more than a spinoff, which could at least run a season or two a la Joey.

In any case, for me it was a satisfying conclusion all around. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew. :applaud:

Yeah I thought that they wrapped up the series pretty nicely. Not really anything spectacular but it got the job done I guess. I don't see how you can start up another season with the type of ending that they made for the season finale.

Re: Scrubs Thread

A spinoff would be the only reasonable way in my opinion. That could have limited success, but you can't really do an official Season 9 after that ending.

Oh well.
Veteran comedy "Scrubs" is inching closer to a return for a ninth season on ABC with most of the main cast members locked in to return.

Star Zach Braff has closed a deal to come back for six episodes to transition the show to its new set-up, which is still being worked out.

Also signed for six episodes is Sarah Chalke.

Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn have all closed deals to continue as regulars in second position to their pilots.
Faison and Flynn co-star in hot ABC pilots, "The Law," which is already unofficially staffing, and "The Middle," respectively. McGinley is on CBS' drama pilot "Back."

Meanwhile, Judy Reyes has not been approached for a deal but may appear as a guest star if "Scrubs" is renewed.

It is still not clear if "Scrubs" would continue as a single-camera comedy or would switch to a multi-camera format or a hybrid single/multi setup.

Well...maybe. If there's a bit of a transition period it might work and will be a much more credible ninth season but it kind of cheapens the finale and could go downhill very quickly once it's all on the new cast, and whomever it centres on...if indeed there will be a central character. It might be like the eighth season of That 70s Show though, not quite the same but still having its moments.

Bill Lawrence has made some interesting comments regarding the show's legacy and the objections to a ninth season rather than a spinoff. I respect his point of view (he created the show, after all) and I see his point but I still think creating a spinoff would be a better approach and more appealing for people who'd like to see more but would be turned off by the "it's not really Scrubs" factor. And while it might not bother him too much, it would be kind of sad if instead of going out on a high note it fizzled out as the show that tried to do a new season with a different cast and was unceremoniously cancelled because most people hated it. And I think calling it the ninth season, a continuation of the original series, is just begging for people to hate it.

Since Ausiello quoted him:
Bill Lawrence wrote:"There are 107 people that work on that show," he reminded me earlier this week. "I've worked with them for eight years now. If there's a chance for everybody to work another year, my attitude, business-wise, is 'legacy-schmegacy.' I couldn't give a fuck, to tell you the truth. I thought the first eight years of Scrubs was great. I'm super proud of it. There's absolutely nothing that could possibly happen that could change that... On the creative side, some people are like, 'It should end on a high note creatively. It shouldn't be something that taints our memory.' And I get that. [But the other] 50 percent of the people are like, 'Oh my god, I'm so glad to have a show back that I care about.' The way to bridge that gap is I've got to consider Scrubs over. The way that I'm viewing it is the way Frasier was to Cheers: It'll be essentially a new show with some characters that people liked."
...
"The one promise I would make to people is that if this does suck, it won't suck in a lame fizzle-out kind of way," he says. "It will suck in a huge way. It will really, really suck."

Re: Scrubs Thread

Fair point, I respect his candidness. But if they were to call it Scrubs and consider it a Season 9, it wouldn't exactly be a Fraiser-to-Cheers relationship, it would be more akin to Season 8 of That 70s Show.

I'm wishing for the epic suck that Bill Lawrence sees as the worst case scenario.

Re: Scrubs Thread

Sat May 23, 2009 12:41 pm

It probably wouldn't bother him too much and fair enough, the show found an audience and had a good run. But as much as "legacies" are overrated at times, I don't fully agree with the "legacy schmegacy" approach either.
