white people and black music

Postby Ruff Ryder on Wed Sep 03, 2003 11:49 am

Do you think white people will ever take over rap?

I'M NOT TRYING TO BE RACIST OR DISCRIMINATING but is their a chance rap will be white. Theres already 2 successful white male and possible 3 white female by the end of the month. :?

I hope not. I know some people could care less.

-please refrain from using words like (n***a, cr*cker, etc.......)

It's certainly possible. It happened with Rock & Roll/Rhythm & Blues when Elvis making the style popular with white America, so it's not out of the question that the colour barrier will be broken with rap music. On the other hand, it's not a style that everyone is willing to accept as rap music often refers to issues that a lot of people would rather not talk about.

As far as the artists themselves go, there'll probably be more white people trying their hand at it. Whether they'll be successful is another story. I don't see white artists taking over rap, but rather seeing two distinct styles - one traditional, one that is widely accepted by white America without the need for censorship.

Rap wont turn white. I mean Eminem is the only really prolific white rapper right now and he is by far the best.

Sarai however is the best female rapper out in my opinion and she happens to be white.

lol, do any of those female rappers rap about "that time of the month"? :D

I find most rappers somewhat annoying, no offence intended. I listen to hip hop and r&B etc, and tolerate the rapping in the hope that someone will start singing in the next verse. Rap won't be taken over by whites because a white man acting like a black man is definately annoying (and at times piss funny too). Eminem gets away with it (even with that whiney voice) and I don't think anyone else will.

Im pretty sure that there will always be a greater amount of black rappers then white, not that I care actually...just if they make good music..thats enough for me....I agree with Stevan, I see white people wearing big ass chains, rows, pants down to their knees and talking with a funny accent like they are foreigners....mad funny  ....do they even know that people think they look like clowns instead of being THE ISH :?

whites will never take over rap, eminem is the only good white rapper, but thats it. blacks have those special voices that whites dont have, the voices that make rap so great 4 example pac, outlawz, nas, biggie etc. whites jus dont have the skills blacks have if it comes 2 rap

She was rappin about sucking big black dicks and some other nasty shit, I was like "damn, you have watch to much porno movies or something".

Eminem is not the best rapper by far. He is one of the bests but not the best. Popularity doesn't make you the best. Whites are not taking over hip hop. Black rap artists will never let that happen. There are too many stories to tell and too many creative people that want to get into hip hop to let that happen. The top artists (without regards to sales) are Nas, Jay Z, The Roots, Mos Def, Scarface. I don't know about this Sarai, she might have some skills but she has a while to catch up to Lil Kim, Missy, Foxy Brown and others.

(NO Offense Intended to Any race here)

Rap will never, ever, EVER turn white cause most white kids grow up in a middle-class home and don’t have a tough childhood as most black kids do (It’s been proven in many studies), that’s why most of the black rappers are always kids who had to fight their whole life and had to grow up in a tough neighborhood , so when you hear a Black person rap, it makes more sense since they know what it was like growing up around drug dealers and people getting shot up, when you hear it from a white person, you just feel like giving ‘em a good smack in the face. That’s why Eminem never raps about anything “Gangsta” because it just wouldn’t sound right coming out of him even thought he had a tough childhood. My favorite rappers have got to be: Eazy-E (R.I.P One of the pioneers of “Gangsta” rap and West Coast rap), Tupac, Bone Thugs ‘N’ Harmony, Biggie…..

i guess a chinese person can take over rap then, or filipino, or east indian, since you cant say black people have it any easier than any other of these races. race doesnt matter, talent does.

thoughts like that are the reason it will 'forever matter'. everyone has their own set rights and wrongs and beliefs, and if a part of those beliefs is that racism will always matters then you are a promoter of racism either conciously or unconciously, and it doesnt matter whether you are the racist or the victim of the racist. thoughts eventually dictate reality. and if you think something and believe in it then you encourage it.

so maybe you should change your thinking to that maybe one day racism will be abolished, and pass that to your one day children because only in time will racism be erased, and maybe it wont be in your lifetime, but dont you want your children to experience better?

if all you do is piss and moan and kick and bite, the wound festers, and the cycle turns again and again.

Not to mention experiance. No diss but most white peeps don't know the trials and tribulations of the hood. Why? Because it is a simple fact that there are more whites in the suburbs than in the hood where hip-hop runs rampant.

I don't claim to be a thug or gangster or anything but 3 years ago when I was only 16 I had to hustle to provide for my kid. A suburban white kid would look at that situation and be like damn, I wanna hustle so I can be gangsta...No to mention lil homies lookin up to people on the grind. Rap music glamourizes(sp) this hustlin lifestyle. When I did my dirt I was ashamed that I had to do this in order to provide. I felt like devil whenever I looked into the face of a crack fiend but I had to get paid. So I just smoked those thoughts away(I no longer smoke either).

So what does this have to do with rap. What does a bored hustler do when the lore of millions is in his mind... Besides fuckin bitches and hustlin more, he wants to rap(not saying I did). What does he rap about? His life, not to mention the dreams of making it big and the 24's and women everywhere.

Suburban whites don't have to deal with that for the most part, they just do the drugs, wear the gear and listen to the music for the most part.

I do not discriminate however as I feel if you are good at what you do than that is that, and I love ya whether black white Asian, hispanic or whatever. Racism is stupidity at its finest.

everybody has their trials and tribulations though. you cant say one persons is more than anothers because its all viewed through personal perception. thus if you are black and relate to what another black person goes through of course you will think that that person has went through more crap because you've experienced that crap firsthand.

but through an omnisicient viewpoint you'll see that minorities in america dont have it as bad as the extreme poverties in africa, india, china, and the middle east..... does that mean those people can rap better?

you dont have to experience the hood to be a rapper, you just have to have experience the diversities of life.

here is how i see it. rap is part of the african american culture. by having white rappers you're encouraging open-mindedness of the african american culture. you're giving white people a reason to relate to black people. isnt this a good thing?

going back to the main topic then, i dont want to see rap "taken over" by white people. id like to see rap represented by such diversity such that it becomes something that cant be taken over. so it becomes a community of peoples and not nationalities or race.
