Monday April 27 2011 - sdchargers.netRound One: Pick SevenDE Greg Romeus (Pittsburgh) (Grade: 8/10)

The Chargers could of gone defensive back in the first or linebacker, but they decide to immediatley insert the rookie pass rusher on the left side of defensive end. The Chargers led the league in sacks last year with 57 and will get a couple more with a speedster in Romeus.
Round One: Pick Thirty-TwoCB Prince Amukamara (Nebraska) (Grade: 10/10)

The Chargers traded Antoine Cason away and will get a much better suited shutdown corner in Amukamara than Cason. Amukamara was dropping down the draft for no apparant reason and the Chargers traded back into the first round to draft the talented cornerback.
Round Two: Pick SevenFS Quinton Carter (Oklahoma) (Grade: 6/10)

The Chargers panicked and drafted the talented free-safety at least a round too early, Carter was a big hitter and a ballhawk for the Sooners in the backfield and also represented Oklahoma in the BCS game back in January 2009.
Round Three: Pick NineWR DeAndre Brown (Southern Miss) (Grade: 8/10)

The Chargers draft another big receiver, they recently re-signed Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd, but another holdout could devastate the Chargers again and Brown gives them some blanket room.
Round Five: Pick SevenDT Martin Parker (Richmonnd) (Grade: 6/10)

Nothing special about this pick, will give added depth and may push for some playing time if the Chargers blow teams out, not the next Jamaal Williams.
Round Five: Pick Thirty-TwoTE Kyle Adams (Purdue) (Grade: 8/10)

Once considered a top 10 draft pick before being busted for smoking marijuana, the Chargers will try to develop the troubled tight-end who could eventually replace Antonio Gates, if he ever retires.
Round Six: Pick SevenQB Philip Rivers (Virginia Tech) (Grade: 7/10)

The Chargers draft the second most winningest quarterback in Tech history, Taylor set all major passing records but decided to use his arm instead of legging it off riskily like Michael Vick did, the Chargers get a young backup for the rest of Rivers career, and he's a luxury in the sixth round, think of Dennis Dixon, but probably will turn out to be a better pro player.
Round Seven: Pick SevenRB Noel Devine (West Virginia) (Grade: 9/10)

Another nice selection from the San Diego Chargers, as soon as they didn't resign Darren Sproles they draft another Sproles-esq player, Devine could turn out to be the better professional player but won't trouble Mathews for the starting spot. This could be a huge steal for the Chargers when Devine tears up the NFl through the ground and return game.
Overall Draft Grade: 8/10 - A very solid by the New San Diego Chargers management team.
