Because sometimes you need a car to get places.

Jesus told me not to smoke, he told me while he was touching me.

Yes, we should all think with our penis.

I smoke weed. Because I want to.
Tue Jun 23, 2009 9:31 am
It's never appealed to me, plus I seem to have a really overly active sense of smell and I think it reeks so that in itself is enough to put me off. I don't smoke weed anymore because I found 80% (73.4% of all statistics are made up on the spot btw) of pot smokers under the age of 25 are self righteous wankers who have no idea or grasp of anything relating to the drug. I especially like the ones who splice it with tobacco and claim to be addicted to it... not to the tobacco, but to the weed. Because clearly it must be the weed making you addicted, not the ultra addictive substance you're mixing it with because you're too poor and too much of a bitch to smoke it straight. Then there's the "weed isn't a drug because it comes from the Earth" group... yeah, so does Opium. Dumbass.
This isn't directed at Joe the Space Marine btw, but he mentioned weed. Unless he is like any of the people above, then it is directed at him/you.

I will occasionally have a cigarette. By occasionally, I mean maybe once a month. And you know why? It gets the poop movin' if you're having trouble. Seriously.
Weed? At one point, for about two years, I was smoking a ridiculous amount (in my opinion). Probably a 1/2 ounce a week. I know alot of people smoke alot more than that, but it's still a stupid amount. Not to mention the money, that was about $85-$100 a week.
Now, I'll smoke it if it's around. Which isn't often. I want it to be around more though. Not because I *need* it, but because I just get genuine enjoyment out of it, and it tends to enhance the enjoyment I get out of doing anything by 500%. No worrying about things like "Bleh I don't know if that Netflix streaming movie I've never heard of will be worth watching so I'll keep looking through the list for half an hour". If stoned, I can just pick whatever horseshit comes up on a random search, and laugh my way through the whole thing. I tend to overthink things to the point of getting upset sometimes, it also cures that. Also, I have fairly constant back/neck pain, and it makes that go away.
That said, I'm actually a very responsible and smart individual. I can't imagine it in a moron's hands (amazingly- I was a stoner who wasn't around other stupid stoners, so I've never seen that side of it).

I started smoking cigars recently, my brother-in-law taught me a lot about them, and for someone like me who enjoys learning about wines, beers, weed, etc., it's interesting to understand what goes into making cigars. It's surprisingly relaxing after a good meal. I wouldn't smoke everyday though, just once or twice a week is definitely enough.
I smoke a cigarette every once in a while at a party, but that happens maybe a couple of times a year...
And if there's any weed, I certainly won't say no, I used to smoke quite a lot of hash and weed coming straight from Amsterdam or Breda when I was studying.

I don't smoke cigarettes because I don't see a point. It costs money, there's no health benefits, the smoke is annoying, and it smells not so pleasant.
Probably the primary reason why people do smoke is because they're addicted. Other reasons include peer pressure and societal pressure.
And for some, it's relaxing (I think it's probably the addiction talking), but many other things are relaxing anyway.

It is actually a drug (the nicotine)- it hits straight to the pleasure-producing parts of the brain within like 10 seconds of inhalation. But yeah, after a while I'm sure it's just the addiction talking.

I don't smoke, certainly because of the health risks involved but it's never appealed to me so I've never tried. I don't judge smokers, but it's definitely not for me. That said, I do get annoyed by people who push their right to smoke too far to the point of being inconsiderate jerks about it.

It's pretty much the other way around here in the US (at least in the Southwest). Even as a non smoker, I almost get ticked off when I see what kind of isolation they force smokers to be in. Even if it makes sense considering the actual effects of second hand smoking, it's almost if you're not allowed to smoke in your own home anymore, it gets really extreme. Coming from France, it's almost inconceivable not to see anyone smoke in bars and other public places.
Tue Jun 23, 2009 2:42 pm
I don't mind a business or whatever choses to not allow it. (Especially at like, say a Hospital. Or Gas Station.) But all the laws trying to ban it from public and even private places is lame. The second hand smoking fears are often overblown, to where people freak out if someone lights up a hundred feet away "YOU'RE KILLING ME." When you need longterm prolonged exposure like living in the same house as a smoker not an hour in a bar.
And the whole Joe Camel thing is stupid.
So was the recent tobacco bill.
And denying health care to people who smoke.

I'm with el badman. The occasional Cigar, maybe a few times a year. No ciggarettes for me, the only time I ever smoked cigarettes was to to chase away the smell of weed after we smoked in a car or something. A couple of summer goes I used to smoke weed like EVERY day, that was where all my money went too that summer pretty much. Many days I smoked 2-3 times in one day, just staying high ALL day. That's not me anymore, only the very occasional Cigar.

Yep, the downside is the cost. Plus I don't like smoking. Eventually just went to brownies, it seems cheaper because they seem to last longer for the same amount.
And I like cooking things.
Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:34 pm
Cooked weed is so much better, you're right. Problem is for me, I seriously get the munchies bad. And if I know there are munchies with EVEN MORE POT IN THEM, I end up with an empty cookie jar, and empty bowl, and an empty wallet.
Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:50 pm
I used to like getting creative with different types of smoking apparatus for weed. My favourite was the plastic bag bong.
Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:53 pm
I once smoked out of the metal end of an electric guitar cord, the part that screws off. Cut off part of the screen off the amp and put it in... presto. Ah, being in a band and forgetting the pipe.
Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:17 am
I'd typically use the cardboard cylinder from an empty paper towel or toilet paper thingy, punch a hole on the top to put the joint in it (we don't really use pipes in France), cover one end of the cylinder and smoke through the other end. Not very glamorous but pretty efficient.

Yes. I smoke. I've always loved smoking. I knew that I would smoke ever since I was a little kid. It's great. I love it.
I'm not that much of a pothead anymore though.

You can't smoke inside in pubs or clubs in New South Wales anymore and to be frank, it's made things a whole lot better. Even if we're to debate the harm of second hand smoke, a lot of people do find it unpleasant so while smokers have the right to smoke, non-smokers have a right not to be exposed to it. Thus, a lot of places are creating enclosed smoking lounges/areas where smokers can partake in comfort, and of course smoking outside those places is still allowed. Everyone is accommodated so it's pretty fair to both sides and it seems to be working out well.
I'm talking more about people who will smoke indoors where it's prohibited, refusing to stand downwind and the like. I know, I know, I'm sure I'm coming off like Rob Reiner in that episode of South Park but I do believe in common courtesy and I do appreciate it when someone goes with the classic "Mind if I smoke?" before lighting up. For example, three weeks ago I was down in Canberra for a friend's birthday and a lot of people at the party were smoking. However, they were all very considerate about it, even asking me if I minded them smoking in the car when we went to pick up a couple of extra things from the shops. As I said I don't care for smoking myself and don't really enjoy being around it, but I appreciate the courtesy and it my friend's car so I told them it would be no problem and put up with it.
