Don't need German translation anymore. Generation, age topic

Postby yunner on Wed Nov 08, 2006 7:45 am

Hi guys, I need some help due to a students exchange. Some kids from Germany're visiting my town Bychawa and I'm supposed to referee "international" (lol) b-ball match on Friday. My German is horrible so can U tell me translation of some b-ball rules, words, etc:
travelling violation
crossover
goaltending
illegal defense
free throw
out of bounds
timeout

Looking for an answer...

reisende Verletzung
überkreuzung
Goaltending
ungültige Verteidigung
Throw freigeben a
us Grenzen heraus
Abschaltung

I dunno... I got that from using Google Translate. Don't thank me, I know I'm a genius.

Serriously though, maybe you should ask someone from your school or something? They could help you with pronouncing and stuff too. (Y)

I've done the same by pons online wortebuch and as far as I remebmer überkreuzung means more like crossroad. That's why I wanted native Germans to help me...
All in all thx U2 Zoom, Danke schon :P

He is, but he isn't that old though, like early 20's or something. Now Weaver was a different matter.

Ya i'm in my third year of German and unfortunately, I haven't studied basketball in great detail aside from a nice power point about Dirk...

I'm pretty sure Zoom's response for Traveling Violation is correct though.

Not sure how old Donnie is, but I've got a fiance; we're both 22 years old. Not everyone around here is just reaching that special stage in life we call 'puberty'

Cy's like 21 I think. One of the guys who doesn't come around a lot anymore, I think it's Sauras or something like that, is married and has a son. I think he's like 40. Pretty cool stuff to be gaming with your son. :)

I could be a little immature at times, but I'm actually 22.

Sauras is a really cool guy. Big Larry Bird fan like me.

I think we should make an attempt to find the average age of the forum. I know it'll take time but I'm up to dedicate some days to it. I believe the age will be somewhere between 16-18.

I would say closer to 16... there are a few guys here in their early 20s who have been playing Live since the mid to late 90s (like myself). Then you got the really young kids in middle school here going through puberty, like age 12-13. I haven't really seen any median to that.

There's a whole bunch of us who are 15-17 here. I think Doobie's probably right.
