Thu Dec 22, 2005 9:59 am
What?^^ No it's not. You're never too old to have fun.

I work with some people in their late 20s and early to mid 30s and they still game. Probably not as much as I do but they find time for it. I think video games have grown to the point where they go beyond being a childish activity.

my uncle used to play hardcore some game a few months back into the wee hours of the morning when he was going through his divorce. He's like 50 or sum shit.
If i was in your situation, i'd probably only play when i had free time....like wifey goes shopping and takes kid, or wifey & kid sleeping or whatever.

I am 16 and my parents think I am too old to play games. I always feel embarrassed for some reason when my relatives see me playing games. They think all games are for kids. Anyway i still play games but I always ALT+TAB when i see my uncle or aunt

I'm a member of an old rogue spear gamers forum...a lot of the people there are over 27 and they still play games. So , no 27 is not too old. Too old is when your arthritis hurts so bad you can't type or move the mouse.

Never too old to play games. Games are fun and enjoyable at all ages. Who cares what others think, they are missing out the fun
Thu Dec 22, 2005 11:34 am
nah cant never be too old to have any fun

There's a big misconception that video games are only supposed to be enjoyed by teenagers (males generally). I've never really understood why older people and girls never really get into gaming.

try compromising with your wife. 11 month year old babies do require a lot of attention
there should be no age limit on playing video games. just as long as it's done in moderation
a lot of today's game programmers/designers/etc were hardcore gamers back in the 80's and probably still are today.

I think it's changing as the generation X teens go to their adult stage, making it more of an ok thing for older people to be into gaming.
Thu Dec 22, 2005 3:26 pm
Lol, there is no too old, but I usually don't see 50-60yr olds playing video games.
Thu Dec 22, 2005 4:48 pm
Usually it's pretty rare to find a gamer over the age of 40.

My biology teacher plays Warcraft when he gives us free time... He's like 63 I guess... And I don't think it is old...

You are never too old to play video games. Just don't treat it as more than a fun hobby or you'll go crazy

there was a thread on a madden site a while back about players ages and interestingly most of the people who replied were closer to the 25-40 group than the teen/early adulthood group. then there were some who had never posted but were around for updates and patches who were 40 and up. the oldest i remember was 51, and not a casual gamer.
some of the younger gamers may not realize it but the choices you have now in games, years ago you needed 4 different gaming systems to get 4 different games, and even then there were limits to the realism. we went from atari, commodore, intellivision, small no-name gaming systems with a keyboard and mouse but nothing else, well maybe a cheap word processor and fake joystick, electric football boards, strat-o-matic football with dice, some player cards, and a football field made of cardboard, hand-held games like coleco, to even paper football with the little triangle piece of paper that we slid back and forth across a table to score and plucked through the other persons finger-made goal post for field goals and extra points.
so for some of the older people who play, what games have now we used our imaginaton along with what was available to get the same enjoyment. there is probably a little of that passion still in some from back then, and it usually starts out as a "let me try this and see" thing, some get hooked. and as far as age, it's one small thing that can keep the generation gaps closer, and for anyone that may not quite understand that, imagine trying to have a parent or grandparent understand your playing video games when they grew up on a farm and worked from first light to pitch black, or not only after school, but before school also.

Old School
There's this person named Andrew Begley who is 80 years old and he still plays NBA Live. He even maintains a site for it.

As long as it's not every single day (or at least for multiple hours a day), I think it's fine for everyone. About a year or two ago, I played a game called Counter-Strike a lot. Even though I enjoyed it a ton and still think about playing it a few more times today, games really can get unhealthy. I feel partially like a dipshit saying it, but it really does happen. If someone played a game in their 30s and up like I used to, it'd be 'too old' in my opinion.

And depends how's the wife

You're never too old to play video games. And cmon, no one fucks their wife every single second, like some people might seem to believe. Plus you can play video games, and still do "stuff" with your wife. Plus what else can you do in long business plane trips anyhow? Read a book? I'd rather play video games.
