So who you reakon will win?
Federer will probably kill Andre... but its been great for Agassi... man he's old and he still makes the Finals. lol
Federer is on a roll as he's tying with Pete Sampras' record for 34 straight matches on hard courts...
Sun Sep 11, 2005 12:22 pm
Probably Federer...he's a fucking tennis beast
Hewitt is Federer's bitch right now...
Sun Sep 11, 2005 12:51 pm
There's probably a 2% chance that Agassi wins a set.
But I'll still be pulling for him.
Sun Sep 11, 2005 2:51 pm
I know that all Americans will be rooting for Agassi lol.. i want him to win but Federer is just.. unstoppable? lol
And yes, Hewitt is his bitch!
Sun Sep 11, 2005 2:57 pm
Federer will win....enough said....

I'd say most people will root for Agassi. Federer winning is like MJ in basketball or Schumaher (sp?) in F1. People want competition, not one guy/team winning all the time.

Agassi has no chance lol, he had a VERY lucky tournament. Who was the best player he played ? Mostly unseeded and 20-30 seeded players...
Sun Sep 11, 2005 4:07 pm
James Blake was his toughest opponent, and he's not really that good.
Federer is a beast, but the sad thing for us Aussies is that Lleyton is by far and away the 2nd best player in the World. Forget Roddick, forget Safin (headcase, still awesome) Hewitt can beat absolutely anyone not named Roger Federer. It's a shame, although I really like Federer so I'm not too disappointed. I love the way he doesn't really show any emotion, he just dismantles people and smiles

Wait.. didnt Agassi play Nadal? He was seeded 2nd right?
Sun Sep 11, 2005 6:59 pm
Federer will win for sure. He seems to win matches very easily without much competitions. Agassi is too old to play on but at least he made it to the finals. Federer is the next legend since Sampras.

Federer will win yet again. Right now there's no stopping him. Good luck to Agassi, did you know he's half Persian? (Father)
Mon Sep 12, 2005 4:27 am
federer is really good, i dont think anyone can stop him

Yeah his father was a famous persian boxer
Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:11 am
Agassi is a Persian name too, isn't it?
Mon Sep 12, 2005 11:33 am
If his Dad was Persian, then it most likely is. But Agassi lost. And Federer should be made to wear cement shoes while he plays.
Mon Sep 12, 2005 3:01 pm
jae- i dont know if i can agree with you on your take about blake. the guy beat Nadal, who had the most momentum/confidence heading into this tourny...
roddick's record vs hewitt is pretty good i thought....
federer is unstoppable. i thought agassi had that 3rd set won when federer was making all those backhand errors
Mon Sep 12, 2005 10:38 pm
Blake is average... he beat Nadal, but Nadal's confidence was coming from the clay court season. The only reason he's ranked so high is because he won the French Open. Blake was just riding the wave of emotion with it being in the US etc, this tournament is the most noteable thing he's done in his career.
Andy Roddick's record against Hewitt is 2 win and 6 losses. He's pretty much Lleyton's bitch.

Yeah, I was just asking because it's a Persian name.

oh lol. so roddicks is his bitch, my mistake
just riding the emotional wave? average players dont beat a player like nadal, who did prove that he can play on a surface other then clay. don't downplay nadal's success in the french. besides, the spaniards who win the french open normally don't even make it out of the 1st in the U.S. open. and i don't think average players can go to the limit against a player like agassi

I'm not saying Blake isn't good, but the US Open was actually has best performance in a grand slam. He'd never gone past the 4th round of one prior. Actually this year alone he'd never gone past the 2nd round. I still think it was more of an emotional performance.
average players dont beat a player like nadal
Ivo Karlovic beat Lleyton Hewitt in the first round of Wimbledon in straight sets. Richard Gasquet, an 18 year old beat Roger Federer in the semi finals of the Masters in April. Wayne Arthurs beat Pete Sampras in 2002. These things happen.
Sidenote: Gasquet is a potential superstar, but still only 18 he's not that good yet.

yeh, good point there. that was stupid to say normal players dont beat the good ones every so often. my point is that blake is an above average player at least. he does have the skillset to be in the top 10. great forehand, quick on the baseline, and decent serve. and his win over nadal wasn't like a perfect storm where nadal played his worst game & blake played his best ever. it was a competitive match
regardless of the emotional comeback & those groupies cheering for him, it still takes skills to defeat good players
thanks for your contribution, indy

Oh yeah he's a good player. I remember when he had his afro, he was my favourite tennis player for about 15 minutes.
