It's not as bad as they were saying it was going to be. Luckily, the storm missed them. But gas prices are rising because of this. (N)

Saw it on the news... the lake is higher than the city which means that the city will be very much destroyed at the end of the storm. Dang... (N)

There are a lot of oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico where the Hurricane hit and a lot of oil gets transported through the gulf of Mexico but they had to stop all shipping because it was too danergous.

And the refineries no longer have power so they can't produce oil.

I mean, luckily the worse part of the storm missed New Orleans. It could have been a lot worse but they got lucky.

New Orleans got hit by the Western Side of the storm. The center of the storm was about 35miles east of New Orleans.

The worst part of the storm was on the western side of it, so they missed that. If the western side had hit it, the superdome might of been completely destroyed.

The way I put that, was implying that the Superdome and where the Hornets play are 2 different places.
Do we need a lesson in basic english?

Yeah I heard on the news that petrol is going up 3 cents, that meants $1.28 per litre, sheesh, that'll be bad for my parents

BUT the sad thing is the people in New Orleans. I hope they'll recover, good that George Bush declared a (or is it the) state of emergency and will provide money for the clean up

(I heard this stuff on the news)
