I was wondering, is anybody in here a freemason, or knows one??
My grandfather was one, but he died so I don't know what am I going to do to be one. I have a lot of interest in joining the group when I'm MUCH older.
You can hook up with anybody in the WORLD and be part of an international elite.
It promotes tolerance, respect and such values, so I think the organization is great.
Plus, I want to learn the secret handshake.

Im not 100% what a freemason is. Indulge me?

One of my fundamentalist Catholic friend told me that freemasons are people that go and corrupt the Church, and works for the devil

To IndyPacers: Freemansonry is an international organization that has members all over the world, it started in the 14th century.
The members have the same ideals and its purpose is basically the development of humankind. Mozart, Goethe, Washington and Ben Franklin were some famous freemasons.
It's not a SECRET SOCIETY but it has some aspects that are preferably not revealed to everybody.
They even have secret signs and a handshake, so anywhere in the world you can recognize a fellow member.

I think one aspect of that group is that you have to believe in a god or supreme diety and since they promote "tolerance, respect, etc." it doesn't matter if you're Catholic, Hindu, Muslim, Jew, pagan or even into devil-worship, as long as you have a god. I guess Atheist are out of it.

Deism is highly accepted by most freemason jurisdictions.
Sometimes, atheists and agnostics are accepted but depends on the jurisdiction.
In some Slavic traditions, only Christians are accepted!

My uncle told me lots stories about the Freemasons. Lot of respected people (such as Writers, Doctors, Political Leaders and etc. ) are in that clan. I also heard that they worship the devil and stuff, but thats not what it is. They are a society as someone said and they belive in the brotherhood stuff, like helping each other out and stuff.
I also heard that Bush and all of them are also in the group. I also heard that the the country of US was based on freemasonry. I also heard that if you get caught being a freemason that they will kick u out and stuff.
I think something is fishy with that group cause its never talked about a lot. Well i told my stories, wether they are true or false but w/e.

Ever heard of the Illuminati? Their existence and actions are near-myth status by now. They are rumored to be ruling the world undercover, with the freemason culture being their frontrunner, or just their front.
So I would advise any willful joinees to think twice before entering such an 'institution'. For power like that they allegedly offer, the sacrifices one must make are probably terrible...
But what the hell, who doesn't want to rule the world someday?
Mon Apr 04, 2005 4:06 pm
me....i dont want to rule the world.....seriously..

me....i dont want to rule the world.....seriously..
Yes you do. Just wait until it's offered to you on a plate? Would you say no? I don't think so, even for the challenge of it you'd delve right in...

the only thing i want is to be able to have atleast 2 million dollars worth of asset...i will be happy......i dont mind being the boss though.......that would be a great incentive.but ruling the world? thats a big no no...

I'm just teh devil's advocate for now... the right hand position is currently occupied by George W. Bush, but I'll get it one day...

Haha, devoted Christian my arse... If you had that kind of money, and were a true Christian, you'd give most of it away to the poor...

Ruling the world is another way of being the boss ... worldwide... although you probably always have someone willing to bring you down all the time...

depends on the jurisdiction
Some even have commemorative, personalized plate numbers showing off that they're a member.

Yes.. people show that they are a member but only ordinary ppl do stuff like that. The high class people in our society are the ones i am talking about.

True, true.
Then ofcourse, you could always take up masonry as a hobby, offer your services for free, and subsequently proclaim yourself as a freemason
hehehe
Isn't the purpose of EVERY organization is to exclude non-members, making the members feel "special" that they are a part of something?
