Situation of the Week (3rd Situation)

Postby Ruff Ryder on Mon Mar 15, 2004 12:18 am

I decided it would be kind of fun to do a situation that would envolve thinking and mostly opinions. Here's this weeks situation:

You are a rookie, with hops compared to the likes of Ricky Davis. You have a decent midrange J but your three point shot isn't very good at all.

You were down by 6 and all of a sudden the momentum started to shift. The game was tied up with 4 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Your oponnent has the ball and you are pretty certain they are gonna call a timeout on their next possession if they don't score. They swing the ball around the perimeter for a few seconds. Right before they send it back to the top of the key you see it coming. You anticipate the pass and come away with a steal. You are on a solo fast break. What do you do and why?

1) Take it in for a simple two or 1 handed slam
2) a lay-up
3) Pull up 3
4) pull up shortrange J
5) Try and do a really fancy dunk that will have the crowd buzzing for minutes
6) Pull it out and set up an offensive play
7) Find a teammate(who is behind you somewhere) and pass him the ball

Keep in mind that if you miss number 5 it could earn you some bench minutes, same as with all but 6. Be smart now.

Slam it home, its the highest percentage shot. The team will still be behind by 4, but its easier to recover from then being behind by 6. A jumpshot can rattle in and out all the time, specially in a fastbreak its hard to hit a shot because you are on full speed and most player would shoot it a bit to hard.

Is this a normal slam or a fancy one? Keep in mind that you don't want your coach to bench you because you were getting to fancy(like t-mac in his rookie year).

I would do #1, because I don't want to take the chance of missing, but I want the fans to be exited (unless it is an away game.)

Numero Uno. Any dunk late in the game builds momentum. It's pretty much a guaranteed two points, and pumps up the crowd more than anything but an fancy dunk.

You don't want to end up like Ricky Davis who once again embarassed himself from his fluke miss.

Blah...this is what you mean by a situation? Pfft...how about we talk about the atrocities going on in the world.

How about we talk about the wall being built in Palestine/Israel, it's against human rights, it's a jail, it's imprisoning people on a piece of land & taking over the rest.

Pfft, situation: do you dunk or layup...the idea is good, just the question kinda sucked.

Poo on you then :x :P

And shit on the people that are building the wall. It's gonna become the Berlin Wall part 2.

Feel free to pm me with a question to use for next week, anybody.

Here we go with question number 2:

You are coach for a mediocre team. Your team is having an ok season and are trying to get into the last spot in the playoffs. The best player on your team decides to skip practice for the 8th time in the season. You tell him that he won't start the next game and we'll have to come off of the bench. He refuses to come off of the bench and says that he is a superstar and shouldn't have to come off of the bench.

What do you do?

1.)Not play him
2.)Not play him and suspend him
3.)Start him
4.)Start him, but punish him later

4, i guess... i mean only making the playoffs counts so without the best player the chances of making it arent too good

#2, If he disrespects my coaching view and just ignores what Im telling him, then I didnt want him on the team. I would try to turn this into a motivation for the other players to prove that this is not a 1 mans game.
