Anyone still buy albums?

Postby Doobie on Sun Nov 30, 2008 5:39 pm

I still buy cd's, mostly rap but recently I started buy some Pop/Rock albums. I don't know exactly how many cd's I have but I am planning on having a huge collection.

Some Cd's I have...
Kanye West - College Dropout
Kanye West - Late Registration
Kanye West - Late Orchestration
Kanye West - Graduation
Kanye West - 808s and heartbreak
Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor
Lupe Fiasco - The cool
Common - Be
Common - finding forever
Coldplay - A rush of blood to the head
Coldplay - viva la vida
The KIllers - Hot fuss
The Killers - Sam's Town
The Killers - Day and age
Hellogoodbye - Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! and more
Gym Class Heroes - Papercut Chronicles
Gym Class Heroes - As cruel as school children
Gym Class Heroes - the quilt
Jay-Z - Blueprint
Jay-Z - Blueprint 2
Jay-Z - Kingdom Come
Jay-Z - American Gangster
Nas - Stillmatic
Nas - Streets Disciple
Nas - Hip-hop is dead
Nas - untitled
John Legend - Get lifted
John Legend - Once again

Keep in mind this is a small portion of my cd's, i probably have about 25-30 more cd's to go.

I bought this for the artwork. I get all my music off the internet like most people, though.

I buy old LPs when I have money to spend (they're quite expensive: €34.00 a piece.) If you have a good system they just sound waaaay better than CDs or the 192 kbps MP3s you can get off the internet.

I have never purchased mp3s, I still buy CDs on a regular basis, I would not even be able to enjoy any of it without the complete artwork and having to insert the disc in my stereo.

There is something really pure and clean about vinyl, when compared to their digital counterparts, cd's. Of course mp3's really suck when you compare it to the original. Mp3's cut away sounds that the human ear can't hear well, but when you are listening to the cd version you may hear something that you didn't hear in the mp3. Even mp3's converted back into audio cd's sound better in my car. There is just so much more depth, even though there shouldn't be, since it's being converted from an mp3 and won't increase the quality.

I do. I just bought 808s and Heartbreak and felt ripped off because I'm not feeling it. I also got Ne-Yo's new album which was decent because I still listening to it... I want to buy Trey Songz' new album when it comes out but I'm not going to buy it online and music stores don't have it here in Brisbane... well, I haaven't seen it.

Give 808's and Heartbreak a few spins. I thought it was atrocious at first, but I've grown to quite like it. A new song clicks each time I hear it.

I did admittedly listen to it a few times on the ipod today. I attribute it to the fact I'm feeling what he's feeling on the album in real life to a lesser extent. Some songs I can listen to. It's not as bad as I thought but it's just not Kanye for me... I want him to be like what he was in College Dropout. That was good stuff. :)

My reasons for cd's is to bump them in a car or in my stereo. Plus I support artists, and might find a couple hidden gems within the album.
