Things that were banned at your school

We missed out on a common room as our new principal claimed we needed the extra classroom in that building; thus, it was converted back and we had to make do with the upstairs area of the library.

That's pretty clever. My older sister's year managed to obtain a gigantic banner that read "HUGE LAND SALE" and hung that out the front of the school.

Muckup day was also banned from my school, after the year 12s before us broke in at night and threw rocks at the security guard. That coupled with 90% of year 12s turning up stone cold drunk.

What we got instead of muckup day was all of the year 12s being taken to Gumbuya Park for the day. Anyone who's ever been there will probably join me in a resounding "WOO-HOO-THE-FUCK-CARES"

We had a huge issue with parking so on our prank day we forced the teachers to park in our parking lot and then walk around the building instead of going in the back entrance like we had to as we took over their spots. They were pissed.

Our school banned us from wearing jewelries inside our school for security purposes..and also wearing black socks..

Muckup day was also banned from my school, after the year 12s before us broke in at night and threw rocks at the security guard. That coupled with 90% of year 12s turning up stone cold drunk.

That's a shame, I think the muckup day is a really important rite of passage for Year 12 and good stress relief before the final exams (in my case, the HSC). Our year was particularly close and friendly with one another so the last couple of weeks of high school were pretty fun and filled with goodwill.

The years before us put on some fun concerts on their muckup days though, ours was a little lacklustre in comparison thanks to the threat of it being shut down if any water bombs were thrown. Someone did throw one which led to our year advisor holding up the concert and demanding the person give themselves up or he was pulling the plug right then and there. The person in question did own up and leave the hall, accompanied by a standing ovation for his selflessness.

Anyway, as I was saying the other concerts were pretty memorable with their skits and so forth. Perhaps the most memorable however was the one in 2000 when I was in Year 10. They were doing some skit up on the stage and one of the participants was a particularly large girl. About halfway through the act, she danced across the stage and her gut popped out from under her singlet top. 900 students in the hall, as one, let out a collective groan of disgust. I felt sorry for her afterwards but it was also the funniest crowd reaction I've ever been a part of.

Those little finger skateboards used to be pretty big back in Middle School.. The ones where you could customize the wheels etc. with the itty bitty screwdriver haha.. They only were around for about a week or so before they told us to leave them at home.. Or else haha, i still wonder what "or else" would have been..

we used to have those, tech decks, and i dont think they were ever banned for us. we had them at high school too in the earlier years

Your school went to the trouble of banning them? I can't imagine them causing too much trouble.

They banned pokemon cards at my school because kids fought over them/stole them from people and basically turned the students into savages. Kind of like Lord of the Flies, but with pokemon cards and less eating of pigs.

They ban "illegal" stuff when they see them, like smoking in the school premises and having se... err, "intimate-hand-crawling-action."

But stuff like the PSP, iPod and things like that are only "banned" when the class is at lecture.

Not much was banned at our school...we did have some pretty good pranks that resulted in bans already mentioned (cell phones, pagers, duct tape, hats, chickens and pigs).

Let me elaborate. When I was a senior, we duct taped a couple of freshmen to the goal posts on the practice football field, one standing on top of the other. The football players got detention, the cross country guys who helped got away with it...

The cell phones weren't allowed due to a senior prank regarding phone tag, and the pagers were also a result...not the best prank, but mildly amusing.

The chickens and pigs were pretty damned funny. The same class that did the phone tag left a window open in the gym, snuck in at night, and let loose about 15 chickens in the gym over the weekend. They also oiled up a pig and let that in at lunch time the following Monday...

I had a few friends that broke into the school and recycled all the lab drawer keys and wrote "ha fucking ha" on the overhead projector screen in the chemistry class. It couldn't have been planned better, as the teacher turned around as he pulled the screen down and lectured for about 10 minutes before turning around - someone finally laughed, and one of the guys ended up in jail for a couple nights for B & E (he was 18).

Quality stuff. I don't remember ever hearing about any pranks at my school that reached that were that daring or involved that much preparation.

Yeah, but you have to remember this is small town Iowa almost 10 years ago...aside from sports and drinking on the weekends, there wasn't much going on, so we did stuff like that. I'm glad I'm no longer in a rural area...ugh, boring.
