This should make everyone who knows me feel old...lord knows I do...

I first came here when I was 14. Now, I'm married with a kid, a mortgage, a crossover SUV...Man, two years goes by so fast...

I miss good cartoons. Looney Toons isn't even on anymore. Some of my wife's coworkers are fresh out of college and some of them haven't even seen The Goonies (!) and a lot of kids think that Episode I of Star Wars was really the first movie.

This one really hurts: the music I love from the early 90's is now only found on the decade channels on XM Radio...in a couple of years Nirvana and 2Pac will be a "Oldies."

Sat Apr 12, 2008 8:03 pm

what up Shane, good to see you still around (Y)

yeah man I was at work today and I heard the Spin Doctors come on the 90's XM station and I realized that song was like 13 years old.

you're right, I do feel a little old now, I'm 2 1/2 months away frmo finishng college and I shudder to think that I'll be joining you in the real world soon, where NBA Live is no longer a priority like it was when you were younger.

btw, I saw The Goonies for the first time last year

Mission accomplished.

Good to see you drop by. Whatever happened to that book you were trying to get published?

Sun Apr 13, 2008 1:06 pm

Which one, the poetry book or the novel? The poetry book was shelved by the publisher because it was "uneditible and detrimental to the welfare of general society."

I haven't had time to work on the novel.

Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:53 pm

The poetry book, I thought that one was a done deal.

The old lady probably visited his door.

Now if you get that referance, you's old bitches. (Yes, I know that was in relation to another poster, but still.)

Mon Apr 14, 2008 12:34 am

Yeah, it was, but they kept switching my editors and finally the publisher decided that it was against the grain of what they typically publish (mostly the stuff that is the reason why people hate poetry). I haven't shopped it around anywhere else....I figure I'll just add to it when I have more time and then shop it around.

I'd like to work on the novel, but I've lost interest for now.

I've got a new one. My brother turned 40 last Sunday (I'm actually flying up to Queensland tomorrow for his birthday bash) and even though there's sixteen years between us, it makes me feel old as I can vividly remember when he was my age.

Disgusting.

Another 4 hours and I'll officially be another year older.

Saddening to be honest. Had one hell of a weekend though, so I'm not complaining as much as I would've been normally. :D

Pre-Congrats to KG too, 19th of May aswell.

Mon May 19, 2008 1:30 pm

Happy birthday! I agree with the saddening part, as I turned another year older last month and getting older just makes me feel like I'm missing out a lot on life as strange at it sounds.

Tue May 20, 2008 11:47 am

Heh, you old farts. Making me feel a little younger.

Happy b'days guys (B) Tab goes to Jackal.

The NBA makes me feel older!....I remember back in the days, watching the NBA Draft, to look at these new players, and while i was watching it, I had this warm and nice feeling inside me, like one day I'm gonna make that far. But now I'm fucking 19 years old, same same age as some of the players, who will get drafted. But I can't even get into my countries highest league.

Tue May 27, 2008 7:51 am

I know! I was looking at some of the prospects and they are 19, 20...and I was like, wait shit...they are younger than me and are about to get a NBA contract and I'm working my ass off to make ends meet while juggling school? Damn my parents for giving me shitty genes. (Well, I'm still charming. Hehe...right?)

Uhm, what also makes me feel old is...well not having the passion for a discussion anymore. It's all inane ramblings at the end of the day as it is, not really caring enough to actually go through the effort of convincing someone of something they aren't willing to be convinced of...now that makes me feel old.

Tue May 27, 2008 7:55 am

Charming is for ugly people. :P

I feel you right there!..

I don't hear Riot, Drex, Shadow, Cameron or Andrew complaining.

I hear that the motion of your ocean is so great that it dwarfs any size of the boat others have. That's what I heard. :shifty:

I believe that has nothing to do with getting older. I feel the very same way and I'm sixteen.

I gave up trying to convince my two sisters (and two thirds of all the other people I know) that reality TV is not good TV (and that we shouldn't have to watch it at dinner every single night) years ago.

And that is just one of the things I gave up trying to convince people of.

It used to drive me crazy that people could actually think the Pussycat Dolls make better music than Led Zeppelin. But then I gradually began thinking it must be because they're really dumb, and now I just couldn't care less. I seriously don't give a rat's ass.

I think it happens to a lot of people, regardless of their age.

Tue May 27, 2008 9:49 am

Or it could be that getting older is relative.

I've been feeling that way since LeBron was drafted. It also hits me when I'm working on the rosters and creating players who were born in 1987, as I remember working on updates for earlier games in the series and creating players who were mostly born in the 70s.

Man, the signs Im getting older are hitting me everyday. Today marks my 3rd month at my new job and 2 months at my apartment. Just realizing how busy I am now compared to laying around all day playing games in the winter amazes me. Hell it amazes me that I'm mature enough to handle it.

I guess what scares me now is how responsible I've become. I have a great budget going that I am keeping so I stay out of (serious) debt. I was able to buy and afford everything I wanted from a top of the line computer, to a 32 inch HDTV, an Air Conditioner, and pay to fix both my and my girl's car. In total I've spent ~ 3 grand in the past month and I don't have to worry about payments or debt at all. I am about to pay off my old Wii and digital camera debt from Best Buy and my Rock Band + Move In debt from Walmart this month leaving just my 2 real credit cards. One of which gets paid off weekly while the other has enough room on it incase anything goes wrong. NVM that I have a third card (with a higher limit than the other two combined) that hasnt even been touched yet.

Also this weekend meant a lot to me when my parents came over for the first time since I moved in and saw all that I bought. Seeing their faces after they realized that I budgeted my money properly and have truly "moved out" meant a lot to me. It's weird to think what they are going through with me out of the house at 21 and my sister going to college in the fall in Boston. They don't really contact me unless I got a package in the mail or something during the week yet when I go home each week for my magazines or to grab more stuff from my room they pretty much do anything to keep me there longer. They've actually gotten to like my girlfriend now and even asked me when I was thinking of making the plunge.

And that isnt even talking about her either. The situation was that I was getting sick of school so that I would start working so we could live together and she could keep on with her schooling. So I'm not even just taking care of myself. Im taking care of her too and Im still happy with everything.

It just feels messed up that 3 months ago I was hanging around all day in my boxers doing nothing skillful and basically a loser and now I am taking care of someone, happy, and responsible.....I just didn't see myself making the transition that well.

I hear that, they just said last night that Rajon Rondo was 3 months old the last time the Celts won a title, and I remember watching that series in 87!!! I found myself getting pissed at my neighbors for partying too loud the other night, then thinking that if I was younger (and single) that I might join them. Damn I am getting old!!! Good thread Andrew, makes mee feel not so old to see others feel the same way I do!

Five paragraphs of your long post and all we get is a happy ending? Fuck this shite.

Signs of me getting older?

I'm headed off to NeverNeverLand before that happens.
