Anyone got a "favourite bit" of a song? Post them

Postby J@3 on Wed Jan 30, 2008 6:43 pm

I came up with this listening to Protest The Hero's new album, there's a part in the song Goddess Bound that I keep going back and listening to over and over, which got me thinking about what other parts of songs people rewind and listen to repeatedly on their iPod, or portable cassette player if you're into volume levels and jazz music.

You can use this program to cut the song down to just your favourite part, most files shouldn't be above like 300kb then upload it so at least people can listen and try to understand why you like it. I have no idea what copyright laws this infringes but I'm not particularly bothered since it'll only be small small sections of songs. If you don't want to upload the part of the song just give a description or something.

Post as many as you want and feel free to give your thoughts on other peoples aswell, this is a discussion forum, not a blog. Here's my first one, more may follow..

God i could probably do this all day....I'm probably gonna get called a fag for this cuz there may be a good bit of musicals in here but whatever

Rent (Broadway) Show-Happy New Year "I Think I Should Be Laughing Yet I Forget
Forget How To Begin I'm Feeling Something Inside And Yet I Still Can't Decide If I Should Hide Or Make A Wide Open Grin Last Week I Wanted Just To Disappear My Life Was Dust But Now It Just May Be A Happy New Year"

This one's actually based on last night: if anyone remembers my long story bout the girl i've known forever and we were always on and off but she was bad at emotion etc. Turns out when she went to grad school she got some perspective on life and now is willing to be open and see what happens with us. So when spring break rolls around i'm going to try to go see her and see if this is feasible whatsoever...

Eminem-Sing For the Moment"we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing Except for a dream, and a fuckin' rap magazine Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in their lives Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes"

I love this part of that song because i feel like its the truth. There are so many people who when they dont know where their life is going, they dont how to handle things, they're about to break down utterly and completely, listen to a song are two and come back from the brink. For me its not always rap, but music gets me through alot and I know alot of people dont agree with my tastes: but to me there is nothing more true and honest than the music I listen to (yes even big studio music can be honest)

I'll add some more later...btw, a reason to keep this just to song lyrics is so people can upload them? I have a shit ton of book lines and movie lines too :-P

The page is all blank for me and I hear nothing. I also tried right-click save target as but it doesn't work. I use IE.

No Shelter - Rage Against the Machine
The main attraction distraction
got you number than number than numb
Empty your pockets son; they got you thinkin that
What you need is what they sellin
Make you think that buyin is rebellin

Hospitals not profit full
Yet market bulls got pockets full
To advertise some hip disguise
View the world from American eyes

...They fix the need, develop the taste
Buy their products or get laid to waste...

Know Your Enemy - Rage Against the Machine
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains

Take the Power Back - Rage Against the Machine
With lecture I puncture the structure of lies
Installed in our minds and attempting
To hold us back
We've got to take it back
Holes in our spirit causin' tears and fears
One-sided stories for years and years and years

The teacher stands in front of the class
But the lesson plan he can't recall
The student's eyes don't perceive the lies
Bouncing off every fucking wall
His composure is well kept
I guess he fears playing the fool
The complacent students sit and listen to some of that
Bullshit that he learned in school

Darkness - Rage Against the Machine
You cram your culture down my throat
Say I'm inferior when I find that I choke
You fill my mind with a false sense of history
And then you wonder why I have no identity?

The Hand that Feeds - Nine Inch Nails
You're keeping in step in the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
Because you do what you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

Basically the whole of This is the Last Time - Keane [/emogrin]

Not a big fan of Mr. DMX but his song Party Up has nice bits in the lyrics
Or you gon' find yourself, buried next to someone else and we all thought you loved yourself
But that couldn't have been the issue, or maybe they just sayin that, now cause they miss you
Shit a nigga tried to diss you
That's why you layin on your back, lookin at the roof of the church
Preacher tellin the truth and it hurts

Nigga runnin his mouth?
I'ma blow his lung out
Listen, yo' ass is about to be missin
You know who gon' find you?
Some old man fishin
Grandma wishin your soul's at rest but it's hard to digest with the size of the hole in your chest

This isn't really a bit, but I really like the little interlude at the end of AFI's Affliction.
