American Gangster

This movie looks incredible. It has Oscars written all over it.

Based on a true story.

Denzel as a mobster, that's like a dream come true.

i agree with you on all points. I love Denzel but he plays too many cop roles. he's the clean cut black man and he gets easily casted into those roles. excited to see him be bad again. reminds me a little of Malcolm X from the 90's that Spike Lee directed & Denzel starred in.

I dunno about playing too many cop roles. He was the clean cut guy in Inside Man and Philadelphia, but other then that he's played a lot of badass characters. When I say badass, I mean badass. Training Day, Malcolm X, The Hurricane, He Got Game, Glory and now this.

That's an impressive list of a huge variety of characters.

that's true. but you seem to forget how many movies this guy has been in. seems like he's a military guy or a cop in every other movie. Deja Vu, Manchurian Candidate, Man On Fire, Out Of Time, The Siege, and Fallen are all recent ones he's done.

but yeah the movies where he plays a badass are pretty good too. I loved Training Day, Malcolm X, & He Got Game. Especially in He Got Game where he hits LaLa's (Rosario Dawson) man in the throat.

Well that explains why I was a little confused. I haven't seen Deja Vu, Man on Fire, Out of Time, The Siege or the Fallen.

I know he was a military guy in Manchurian Candidate, but that was still a very different role. He still plays kind of a crazy guy in that one.

time for you to go to Blockbuster

in Manchurian Candidate, he wasn't really crazy, but he was the good guy in the military that got experimented on so he was fucked from the beginning.

Man on Fire, Out of Time and Deja Vu all seemed like the exact same movie to me. I'm sure they are all completely different, but for some reason I have no interest in seeing them.

John Q is another one I forgot to mention, that movie has a lot of plot holes, but man does it keep you at the edge of your seat.

it all seemed like the same movie because he plays pretty much the same character in all three. detective going around trying to solve a case.

plus it was the same director for man on fire and deja vu. those 3 movies probably won't win many awards or be critically acclaimed moves but are all very solid movies
