LyricWiki

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

LyricWiki

(Borderline topic. Could also be in entertainment talk)

As most of you may know, it's a database for people looking up lyrics for songs. I've been using it for the past while, as finding the pop-ups and ads very annoying. But I was using a high security computer instead of my PC and it was blocked, and the reason was "Spam URL". The computer didn't block other lyric sites.

So the question is, do you guys use Lyricwiki and is it really a spam site?

Very helpful, guys. One reply in almost 24 hours. Still, I guess that means no one uses it and it's bad.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but just wondering, what lyric site do you prefer?

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/

Almost always has what I'm looking for, but maybe my tastes are different.

I've never looked at the site myself but I would suggest that if it has a lot of pop-ups and so forth then that's probably why the security software marked it as a spam site and blocked access rather than anything concerning any legitimate content provided by the site.

Oops. I said it wrong. I meant that it didn't have any pop-ups and ads, contrary to other site, so that's why I use it.

BigKaboom2, I don't know if I used the wrong site, but I went to Lyricsfreak and clicked on "lyrics" and "Lyricsfreak" and it always went back to the main screen. When I type a song in search, the results aren't for the lyrics, but just for web results (which I can get from Google).

I honestly don't know what you're referring to - it's a rather straightforward site. Just use the alphabet letters or click search above it and to the right.

Oh, I accidently typed .org for some stupid reason. It works fine now. I can find what I was looking for and there's not any ads in it, too. Thanks.

Well, there goes that theory. Which security program was it? Some of them cause as many problems as they protect against.

Not too sure, but my friend said it was the same as the school boards and secure library computers. Don't know why he needs it, though.

Laxation, that's a pretty good site, thanks. There were some ads, but nothing too annoying.

Absolutely, it sounds extremely intrusive...no doubt in part helping to prevent people from doing things the administrators do not wish them to do.
