Hunting and Fishing

Postby Christopherson on Sat Sep 15, 2007 5:01 am

So I doubt that many people on the forums hunt or fish seeing as how most live in urban areas. However, I do and I was curious if any other people on the forum do or not. If not, what are your opinions about it?

Personally I love to bass fish and hunt deer and elk.

I went troll fishing in the Canaries this summer. I didn't enjoy it much, though, cause I had sea-sickness (I threw up eight times in less than five hours but I think maybe that's because I had like half a dozen bottles of beer+tequila the night before).
I got a small Marlin, though.

Right on. I've only been ocean fishing once in my life. I suffered from the same sickness. As a matter of fact, I only made it on the water for long enough to pick up some crab pots before I'd had enough.

I go fishing for walleye every now and then in Lake Erie. I pretty much go because of my dad. Hunting and fishing are pretty much his favorite activities. I enjoy fishing but I could never get serious about it because I'm not incredibly patient. My dad hunts deer, turkey, and other animals in Kentucky. While I believe the concept of it seems fun, I don't think I could ever kill a deer. I could probably kill a turkey though...they're ugly motherfuckers.

I'd love to walleye fish some time, I've heard it's a lot of fun. You guys ever catch anything very big? I have a friend who grew up in Cinci and he loved to go deer hunting out there. Said they were all over the place.

Well last time I went we were extremely unlucky and caught almost all sheepshead. Lake Erie is packed full of them. The captain would just reach into their mouths and rip their heads off or just slam them against the edge of the boat. I'm not quite sure but I heard that they actually taste pretty good. When we did catch walleye, they were pretty good sizes (like 5-8 pounds) and they avsolutely delicious to eat.

So did you take chartered trips then? I've got a little boat of my own. It's just a little pile of aluminum but it floats and gets me to some of the good holes. Up here there aren't a lot of huge lakes to fish or anything.

Yeah, we went on chartered trips. My dad's been getting our boat fixed up. It is definitely more fun to take your own boat.

I love to fish. There aren't many things in the world better than spending a day out on the lake. When I we go fishing we usually catch Walleyes and Sunnies.

I went up north with some of my family (grandparents, aunt & uncle, father) and a friend of mine to do some fishing. The guys went out on the boat to catch some fish while the women stayed home and read books and talked. It was an easy choice for me!

Anyways, we were catching a lot of good sized Sunnies that day. We were out there for a few hours. We had the live catch basket tied to the side of the boat where we would put all our fish when we caught them. Well, we weren't paying attention as we fished and we drifted into a field of wild rice (it's like weeds pretty much out there). It got caught on the basket and ended up letting all our fish get away. We came back with about 4 fish instead of the 12 or so we should have had. Of course, the women didn't believe that we caught that many. :D
