I also played No Mercy for N64 :P(Great game, lots of wrestlers).
To get to the apron you have to wait and it will take you automatically there.

I just played that game earlier at a rental shop.

I must say, the total revamp of the controls made me suffer. I played a Tag match using DX, and when I was about to pin Nitro I pressed the Up button on the D-Pad, I thought HBK is to attack Mercury, but instead, Triple H taunted and did the crotch crop.

I forgot that to "command" your partner to attack illegally you must press R1 and then the Up/Down button on the D-Pad.

Plus Lashley doesn't look like him ingame.

Not too bad.

Got this game for the 360 a week ago and it's pretty fun despite my lack of interest in wrestling nowadays and decided to go through this thread. And I'm glad you posted this link because I am having a field day making some of these old school guys like Sid Vicious and the British Bulldog. :D They really go into depth on some of those guys.

Got bored and started looking at NaturalMotion videos on youtube and I found these.

Gotta say I am very interested in that stuff, kinda reminds me of when I used to play with the action figures when I was a kid.

Good lord.. if any developer uses that animation engine for wrestling games, it would look horrible. No impact, too raggedy(if that's even a word  ), a downright mess. Would be better for action games though.

How about Football games? I believe 2k has officially announced that they are using that technology. And those videos are made from people like you and me, in the hands of real developers like Rockstar (officially using it) who knows what that engine can do.

Some "Professional" Videos

Wow... unbelievable. Browsing around the Smackdown CAW forums, I came upon this topic, in which one of the moveset specialists hacked Mark Henry's hidden move: "The World's Strongest Slam"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=GP9y-tMFT4k
In SvR2007 the original World's Strongest Slam was the stiff and crappy looking powerslam, but they unlocked the real finisher of Mark Henry. Really makes alot of Smackdown fans wonder just how many moves does Yuke's have hidden in SvR2007. :x

Cool find, thanks for sharing. (Y) I'll have to check it out with my Action Replay sometime.

Another move found in SvR2007

Sky High.

Which is the hidden one? I haven't seen either - I don't plan on making a D-Lo Brown CAW anytime soon but the pumphandle slam is nice.

The first move done by Paul Burchill, sit-out powerslam.

I've been playing SvR07 a bit lately to finish up unlocking everything. I'm sure you've already noticed but season mode is a lot more interesting when you don't win the title early on; the angles are much more interesting when they don't involve defending the belt.

The gameplay got me to throw all aspect of the enjoyment of SvR2007 out the window, and the Kurt Angle turning into a woman angle just added to it. SvR2008 better be something special. SvR2007 was just like NBA Live 07, both absolute disasters, only difference is that SvR2007 got praised instead.

How about the one with Candice Michelle's magic wand? That was pretty weak.

I haven't actually seen those ones yet. I guess I stand corrected.

Since I picked up the Xbox 360 version for $50 when EB was having a sale last Friday, I've had to cover old ground to unlock everything I'd already attained on the PS2 version and have actually gotten a little further, completing a couple of challenges I hadn't yet finished on the PS2.

Working my way through the challenges has reminded me of another wish for SDvRAW 2008 though. THQ must never, ever include anything like Dude Love vs Mick Foley, Cactus Jack and Mankind on Legend difficulty ever again. I've still yet to finish that one, I've had to put it aside because frankly I find it too frustrating to give it more than a couple of attempts in a row.

I actually saw that one for the first time the other day. It had its moments but it was pretty silly for the most part. They tried something different with it, I'll give them that.

At least the PS2 and 360 versions had a targeting button... I played my SvR2008 on the PSP where the targeting is Automatic, and by Yuke's Auto means you have to stand near your opponent and keep on moving near him until you finally target him (even if your untargeted opponent hits you, you still won't target him). That alone made anything more than a singles match hell. Yet, every single year since SvR2006, none of the gaming editors mentioned this problem for the PSP review...

Fri Jun 08, 2007 5:26 pm

That sucks. If it's any consolation, it doesn't look like the two player exploit works for challenges this year unless of course I didn't set up the match properly. That would at least take one Foley out of the equation, as well as giving you the chance to use one of the Foleys to keep another occupied with a bit of in-team fighting while you beat up/pin the other one.

I'm getting increasingly irritated with both 06 and 07.

In 06, no matter what move you use the opponent stays down for about 3 seconds at the most which makes top-rope moves like the Frog Splash an impossibility. Also, there aren't enough moves that are powerful enough to be finishers, so I can't finish a match with a strong lariat using a Puro CAW.

In 07, I can't get a match to go longer than 3 minutes. It seems like you can hit a suplex and an arm drag and the opponents torso will already be yellow. Not fun at all.

For 06, the turnbuckle "leapfrog" technique usually does the trick. Just irish whip your opponent to a turnbuckle, run towards him and press the "square" button, and it'll be a totally unrealistic wrestling sequence. Your wrestler will basically just do a RVD "Splits-jump over your opponent" and at the same time, your opponent will automatically fall in place for a diving attack, and then your wrestler ascends the turnbuckle. This technique usually gives you about 5-7 seconds to pull off a diving move.

For 06, any of the running Clotheslines work as finishers EXCEPT the best looking Clothesline, which is Clothesline 17. Your opponent literally gets right up after that. (Clothesline 17 is the one that looks closest to the Clothesline from Hell)

For 07, yeah, it's really disappointing. The damage distribution is really off and unrealistic. Ever check the UCM suplexes? They do 20 damage each, whereas a chokeslam only does.. a mere 10 I think off the top of my head. Heck, a Cross Powerbomb doesn't even do as much as a suplex. Another reason I've noticed why the damage comes so high and fast is because pretty much all of the reversals do a slight 3-5 damage (estimate) to various body parts (depends on the reversal animation). Heck, I was dominating Undertaker(Taker didn't touch me at all) with my Lesnar CAW (with a 10 to his durability) and low and behold, several reversals later, my body was in the red state. Complete nonsense imo.

Sat Jun 09, 2007 10:31 am

Hmm...I definitely had never heard of that leapfrog trick, but I tried it on an opponent who had one body part in the red, and he got up after less than 2 seconds. Perhaps I have to really abuse him first. Thanks for the tip though.

EDIT: Also, all the running clotheslines are 6 damage to the head. The short-arm clotheslines work as finishers though.
