Battlefield 2 - How does it run for you

Tue Jan 09, 2007 5:24 am

I really wanted to get into this game, as late as I am. Who plays it here? I've tried to figure how to max out my PC since the demo runs shittly. Does the full version and it's patches improve runnability? What are your specs and how does it run?
This really frustrates me. And I couldn't find another topic for BF2 with search.

Oh forgot, my specs:
AMD Turion64 1,8ghz
1022mb ram
ati radeon xpress 200m , 128mb

I know it's the gfx card but still, does the full version and patches improve performance?

I think I have seen some improvement with the patch(es), but I have only recently got back into it. Have you tried playing singleplayer with the demo and see how it runs then?

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+ clock speed.
1gb ram @ 400 mhz
Sapphire ATI X800 XTPE 256mb

I can run it on max with a little bit of low fps here and there, but I put a few things at medium like lighting and texture filtering which don't provide much of a difference visually, but my fps gets smoother.

I can run this game pretty smoothly. Depending on where the server is located get a great ping..

Intel Pentium Dual Core CPU 3ghz (64bit) 1 GB of ram
Nvidia Geforce 7900GT 256mb

AMD 3000+
x800 GT 256 mb
and now 1G of ram

I was running ~70 fps with everything on low and full view distance (with 512 ram)

but now with my second stick of 512 I can run every thing medium with textures on high at a smooth 65fps. I might try and tweak a little bit and see what else I can boost up.

AMD Athlon 3200+
7900 GT 256MB
2 GB RAM

Runs flawlessly - I don't play it too much anymore because the vehicles aren't very balanced with the rest of the game. I get sick of dying from artillery blasts at spawn points as well.

^Thats why I like the non-vehicle servers. When I recently got back into it, I noticed some well organized planes and choppers were destroying our team. So its Infantry only for me.

I can run it on high with no problems...

2 gigs ram
P4, 3ghz
Nvidia 7800 GS 256mb

Oh yeah, forgot about infantry only!

I think I have a subconscious aversion to playing BF2 because I never know if it's going to optimize the shaders or not and it takes a ridiculously long time to get into a game even when it doesn't. Loading times make me crazy.

On an unrelated note, I finally nabbed Far Cry from www.direct2drive.com today for US$9.95. Can't believe I missed this when it came out - awesome game.

yah Far Cry is a great game.

as for BF2 loading I found freeing up HDD space quickens the "Verifying Client Data" and you only have to do that optimize shaders everytime you change your video settings.

Yes FarCry is awesome it came with my XFX GeForce 7800. I can run BF2 with everything on max and it is smooth.

AMD Athlon FX-55
XFX GeForce 7800
3 gigs ram

That Raedon is going to be killed by it...

BF2 will actually run *slower/choppier* in single player because cpu cycles will be eaten up doing the AI for all the bots. If you can get it at a playable rate in single player, you can usually turn it up a bit in multi.

runs well at times but sometimes it will lag especially on the huge chinese maps and kubra dam. I recently found a 64 player server that rotates around 4 city maps , so I don't have to deal with the huge Chinese countryside and all the lag.

2 ghz AMD processor
1 ghz RAM
256 mb integrated video
