Anti-Virus software

Can anyone recommend one? I've tried Norton but everyone keeps saying it sucks. As does McAfee. My friend recommended CA but I'm looking at other options first.

AVG is a good one, and it's free.

Get a mac. Then you won't need one...

But in all seriousness, I used Symantec Enterprise Anti Virus on my PC. If you can get your hands on it, it's great. Doesn't make your system lag like Nortons and has great protection. All the big multi national businesses use it and supposedly it costs a fortune. But if you can stumble on a copy, give it a shot.

Most anti-virus software isn't very effective these days, unfortunately. Usually never finds anything except "tracking" cookies, which aren't even spyware - they just hold information like your login to these forums, for example.

That said, every once in a while I'll run a scan with a-squared Free.

EDIT: Norton, McAfee, Symantec will all more or less take over your computer. There are no software companies I despise more than those three.

I use Norton, and i think its great. I tried the Kaspersky trial, but it just fucked up my system, made i lag, and blocked many games so i couldnt play

Norton's ok as long as you're prepared for its weekly scan. Howver if you're playin Live, WoW or Madden during that starting, it sucks...

I used to have Norton and it never bothered me but people just say it sucks and it creates viruses instead of destroying it.
I also just tried Kaspersky and my sister got annoyed with the continous popups so I uninstalled it. And the problem with trials is that some only scan your computer but don't delete the viruses and such.
