thats a little better. Although there were some attacks on your belief there, you kept an open mind, you listened to what i had to say and you refuted.

That is what debate is. Debate is discussion, and yes it can get heated, but it has to stay nonjudgemental...which you finally did in this post. You also have to think about who you're debating with. For instance, if you're talking to majority of us that dont agree with your views, dont use any republican quotes, we're not going to believe them and quoting it isnt going to change that. Things like that. adjust to your audience and be logical and find a way to maybe not convince them but make them look at it a little differently. As you said you larn something new everytime, and i quite often do too which is why i am trying to help you understand why you're getting this backlash.
as for the "evil" once again: none of us can understand the passion these guys feel for their cause. While it is as wrong and evil as possible to us; evil is relative. Hell, it used to be evil to eat meat on a friday. I dont agree with the actions the terrorists take using innocents, but many times; they dont use innocents. The kids; fine thats innocence. But how do we know the women are? Maybe they've thought it out and are willing to die for their cause just like the men. Once again; they are doing what they think is right to help their remaining children's future. Hell, i can promise you if i hear in 4 years one of my cousins is going to have to go to war, i'd be doing anything to prevent it. They started this war (this time) in attacking us yes; but it does not mean they cant have a point.
If you join the armed forces; more power to you dude and i agree that all of them deserve our thanks. But it is still possible to disagree with their cause and support them whether you think so or not. Like i said before, they're doing their job for the most part. Depending on what study you look at, even alot of the troops dont agree wit the war. However they agreed to serve and this is how they can serve at this moment. Whatever the true motives for going to Iraq in the first place were, it doesnt matter at this point. The reason alot of us are fed up is that if you look Mr. President obviously has not even considered an exit strategy. Yes i know we need to secure baghdad and all that junk first; but are 20,000 more troops really going to help? I really dont think so. As long as the insurgency holds the passion they do; as long as they are willing to do anything to fight us; no amount of troops will stop it.
