Cardinals - Madden 07 Franchise - Team Buy-out stage.

Sat Jan 13, 2007 1:55 pm

Hey guys I finally decided to play the 'chise with the Cardinals, 'cause it's quite a good team, definetely can make the playoffs first year, and also needs somewhat of a restructure in the DB's area, so it's a challenge to play with (I know that passing teams will destroy me hahaha).

 Rosters: Struttdaddy's latest roster (from Football-Freaks.com).
    Difficulty: All-Pro.
 Sliders: Steelerz192003's modified a bit by me (from FF, also).
 Quarter Length: 12 min., Accelerated Clock ON.
    Pre-Existing Injuries: Off.
 Salary Cap Rules: Limit my spending to $90M the first season (without changing the ovr. cap so that the CPU can spend as much as permitted), and add $5M per year to total.
 Free Agent Rules: Resign unmodifiable offers to all players over 80 (can't change years or cash), can modify whatever I want to players below 79.
 Contract Restructures: 1 per season to whatever years I want.
 Progression weeks: 5 and 17. No Preseason or Playoff progression.
 I won't play the training camp nor the preseason

I'll post a story right away so please comment!!

The MADCAT site is being prepared so maybe tonight I'll post the address for you to get a feel of the Preseason action.

Hope you like it!!

First Roleplay!!

(Changing TV Channels sound)...
TV: Well now on to the Sports, here with us: Kevin Green!!.
Hello to all our viewers. We got really big news coming from Phoenix, where it is rumored that the Sports Tycoon Gonzalo Larrondo will buy-out the Arizona Cardinals franchise. Reporting live from Phoenix is Richard Freeney.
Hi Kevin, news here in Arizona say that the Bidwill family got tired of running this team's operations, and is planning to sell it. Close sources to the Bidwill family say that the buy-out is imminent, and that 90% sure the team will change hands. Bids have been thrown in secretly by 5 conglomerates, so that there wouldn't make a fuss out of it, but as always here in KPHO we always have the exclusive.
Rumor has it that the international stock inversionist and Sports Tycoon Gonzalo Larrondo is running with the edge, because of his experience managing sports teams (he owns part of the Golden State Warriors of the NBA), even though not being the most lucrative offer. More info on the 6 o'clock news here on channel 5.

(TV turns off - Phone rings)

Gonzalo Larrondo (GL) : Larrondo here.
Thomas Ferrell (TF).: Hey Gonzalo, Thomas here, did you see the channel 5 news?
GL: Yes man, that's quite concerning, I didn't want the story to filtrate to the press.
TF: I know boss, but it seems that the leak came from inside the Bidwill family, and there's nothing we can do about it.
GL: Yes we can, what do you know about this other 4 proposals?
TF: Nothing certain boss, but I have concrete sources that tell me that there's only 1 fierce competitor to our proposal. Jerry Colangelo, the owner of the Suns.
GL: Shit!, I'll call William Bidwill right now, and I'll settle it.
(phone hangs)

I don't know about this, I have to make a cuantious offer to this man, and promise him part of the team, so that he continues to gain money with it.
(grabs phone)

GL: Good afternoon, may I speak with Mr. Bidwill?
Operator: Of course, may I ask from who?
GL: Gonzalo Larrondo.
Op: OK, sir hold on please.
William Bidwill: Bidwill here.
GL: Good afternoon Mr. Bidwill, I'm Gonzalo Larrondo, we spoke last night about my proposal to buy the Cardinals.
WB: Hey Mr. Larrondo, What do you want?
GL: I wanted to know if what I heard on TV is for real.
WB: Oh that, I wanted to apologize to you, about that.
GL: No worries. Is it true that there are other offers?
WB: No that isn't true, you're the only bidder, and therefore the winner, I'll sell the team to you, let's have a meeting tomorrow, and hold a press conference.
GL: OK see you tomorrow.
(phone hangs)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

WB: Ladies and gentlemen, I now introduce to you to the new Arizona Cardinals Owner: Gonzalo Larrondo.
GL: First of all, thanks you all for attending here on such a short notice, I want to introduce myself, I'm Gonzalo Larrondo, I am 31 years old, I'm Chilean, I live here in USA for 20 years now, and will answer some of your questions now briefly.
Journalist: What is your football experience?
GL: I've played football ever since I got here, we moved from Chile, 'cause I had been selected by St. Vincent-St. Mary HS in Akron, OH to play football. Played HS Div 1 all 4 years, and then went to Florida to play, where I had 3 wonderful seasons, and had a car accident which ruined my professional dreams.
Journalist: Sorry to hear that, What changes will you make staff-wise?
GL: Not much, I'll transfer my owner rights to my father, Eduardo, and I'll be General Manager (VP of Football Ops.), and my brother, Cristóbal, will be VP. The rest of the staff will be the same. Dennis Green and his coaching staff will be held for at least this year, when they all end contract.
Journalist: With you as GM, what changes will the team have strategy-wise?
GL: Not much, I'm a fan of offensive play, with a slight advantage to passing game, rather than rushing.
Journalist: Last question: Warner or Leinart?
GL: Thats up to Dennis Green.

TV: Well the rumours where true and now the Cardinals are owned by a practically unknown chilean, he is a man of few words, let's hope he can qualify as GM. Good Evening Phoenix.
