vector vs. raster

Postby [Q] on Sun Oct 29, 2006 5:02 pm

so I'm making a t-shirt design and I figure vectors are the way to go, so I start a design using the pen & paths in Photoshop. After I'm finished, I use the fill path command, and the result seems a little jagged and not smooth like a vector. is there something else I should be doing? I could really use some help.

I'm almost to the point where I just want to draw my design out and scan it.

Photoshop will only make rasters as far as I know, if you want to make a real vector use Illustrator. But if you make it a large enough resolution in Photoshop it won't matter. If it's 300 dpi it will be smooth enough.

Expanding on what Colin said, vectors are only done in Illustrator (or Flash, but the former's way better). The thing about the tool you're using, pens and paths, are just bezier curves to create a shape. The program itself (Photoshop - raster vs. Illustrator - vector) depends on whether you're working with pixels or mathematical formulas.
