Andrew

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I know you probably get asked this alot, but I'm not asking. I'm offering to become a moderator on the NLSC Message Boards.

I'll consider you both. Neither of you seem to get into flame wars, which is always a good quality to have in a moderator. (Y) There hasn't been much serious/consistent turmoil in the forum of late, so I'm not looking to add more moderators immediately. However, as the forum continues to expand, adding more mods is definitely the plan of action.

Which sections are you interested in moderating MJ?

And Alexboy, even though the Live 2000 forums are not as active as others, there's always a need for moderators, in the event of spamming, or a surprise flame war.

for sure Andrew, I agree, but about 90% of the posts in 2000 forums is made by the "Live 2000 community" (people still playing Live 2000 and that's normal :) ) which are all people with a serious behavior

I don't think that you ever needed to lock any thread in this forum or even warn anyone

there was once an argument that didn't turn into flame I found that amazing to see people leaving the discussion in good terms when you see what happens in NBA general talk

http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~nbalive/ph ... php?t=5433

but that's sure that a moderator is still important, in the event of flame or spamming you're all right !!

Yeah, flames in the NBA Live sections of the board are usually easier to handle, since they are less common and usually caused by the same kind of disagreements (mostly patches). The general forums invite topics that can turn ugly more frequently.

I'll be in touch, keep bugging me about it though. When the forum is calm, I don't usually look to add mods, so I might forget about the offer. I'll try not to forget though. :)

Possibly helping out with the new NBA Live 2004 section.

If i may give some input andrew, i think when your assigning moderators you shouldn't specialise sections for them. Let each mod be able to do their duties in all of the of the forum. There may be something that needs to be done in a section and if a mod is not around...the other(s) can step in. Just my $0.02 cents.

Just your 0.02 cents? so 2% of a cent? Sorry just bugged me. It should either be "just my 2 cents" or "just my 0.02$", not both.

I know I'm "let's say" new in the forum for those who used to visit the dark old forum site, however I consider you don't have to be an old member to give your opinion.

Yohance, I understand your point and that's why it would help to have more than one moderator but Andrew has his point on assigning special moderators to each section.

You see, there are people, let's say possible moderators, who don't visit some of the sections of the site or have no specific knowledge of that section, meaning they will not know what's going on in there, so it would be useless to assignate a moderator who doesn't visit often that section, some of those guys in the 2003 section have never visited the NBA talk section which means there's no reason to make them moderator of the NBA talk section.

I'm sorry..but you don't make sense to me and i don't know what you're talking about. In the english language... 2 cents is can be written down as zero dollars point zero two..hence $0.02 c . Also...to make an entire post about that in this topic is going a bit off track...no?

Scubilete : Those are some good points. I'm sure andrew will decide what's best (y)

Scubilete pretty much summed up it for me. :) I know where you're coming from Yohance, but as Scubilete said, not everyone frequents all areas of the forum. In the event that a mod is absent, someone with mod status throughout the forum (ie. either you or me :P) can probably handle it.

There's not really a need for more moderators at this point, but bring it up again in the future. There will come a time when I do need to appoint some more mods, so I'll need to know whether there are any members who are willing and able to take on the responsibility.

Browsing the board and warning people about violations as well as moving out of place posts to their correct location. Basically enforcing the rules which Andrew has put in place. One can read the member and moderator rules at the top to see wussup.

I don't see why you'd need more moderators. And if you'd take new mods, I'd take people that have been around for quite a long time so they know what's going on and how things work around here.

I don't want to single anyone out, but I think it applies for all moderator applications. This just happens to be the most public one.

In my opinion (and you can take that for whatever you want) I'd like to see a moderator be someone that's been visiting these forums longer than I have, because that gives him that inch of respect what's needed.
