Jackie Chan, Jet Li in Action Movie Pairing

A movie co-starring two of the biggest names in kung fu cinema - Jackie Chan and Jet Li - is nearly a sealed deal, with the only outstanding issue being the script, Chan has said.

"All the hurdles have been overcome. The only problem left is the script," Chan said after a press conference to promote his new action comedy, Rob-B-Hood.

"We need a script that he approves and I approve. If that goes well, shooting will start in March or April in Shanghai," he said.

Chan suggested it will be action-oriented fare, saying he and Li must defer to the movie's Hollywood backers.

"It will be more American-style. It will be more suited to foreign audiences than Chinese audiences," he said. "If you make a Hollywood movie, of course you have to follow their wishes. They're paying us so much money."

He also revealed he will soon start shooting the third instalment of the popular action comedy series Rush Hour with Chris Tucker, spending about a dozen days in France starting in September, followed by 10 days of shooting in New York and further filming in Los Angeles. He said the movie will finish by March or April next year.

To cap off a busy filming schedule, Chan said he is also due to shoot a film in Japan that translates as Shinjuku Incident with Hong Kong director Derek Yee. He declined to reveal the plot, only saying it is based on a true story.

Asked about a recent Hong Kong pop concert that Chan disrupted with a surprise, somewhat drunken appearance on stage, he said he's resigned to the fact that his actions generate news. "I'm used to it. I'll definitely be written about. I don't blame the writers," he said.

Chan appeared unannounced on stage at Taiwan singer-songwriter Jonathan Lee's concert in Hong Kong last month. He then insulted the band and replied to heckles from the audience with a coarse insult.

But Chan, who has apologised for the incident, expressed frustration at the level of attention it drew. "Everyone in the world has made mistakes, but it's just that we're celebrities. TV station managers, magazine editors, who doesn't drink, who doesn't get drunk?" Chan said.

This should be ultra interesting, Chan and Li… Really looking forward to Rush Hour 3… last time I saw Chan in a movie was New Police Story... damn that was good. And I was just watching Li’s Kiss of the Dragon last night.

From reading it, it seems like the filmmakers are restraining Chan and Li a bit, forcing them to act in a way that’s a bit different from how they would normally want to. But… they are being paid pretty good amounts to do so, can’t complain about that. Still a little pissed Yao passed up the opportunity to go to France and appear in Rush Hour 3. Would have been a great trio, Tucker to Chan to Yao.

And haha. Jackie Chan got drunk on stage and insulted the fans. GO JACKIE! (Y)

BTW, looking forward to Rush Hour 3, too. Now they're going to NYC!

Wow, those guys would make a wicked duo. Never thought about them pairing up. They'll make martial artist fans gush as much as girls would gush over Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the same movie.

"Fearless". I saw a preview for it before Xmen 3... it looks pretty cool... it's about China during the imperial days when the westerners are trying to take over... the white people setup these fights to show their supremacy but Jet Li plays Huo Yuanjia who wins these battles that were setup for him to lose.

Jet Li supposedly said Fearless was his last "epic" film and that he wants to do films with a more modern focus.

Great...all we need is a movie with silvester stallone and the governator...and a movie with van damme and chuck norris (i'm dead serious). Yao ming would've been a great villian in the vein of lew alcindor in that bruce lee movie. Back then he looked like a guy to fear...muchless huge ass yao. (shudder at the though of a kick from yao.) :shifty:

Yea, I believe Fearless was just Jet Li's last "old china" movie where they still had dynasties and stuff.

i hope this movie turns out good
not like this other thing i rented that said jackie chan and jet li
and turned out to be clips from old movies they did
separate but like playing different ones
like highlights of there careers

all we need is a movie with silvester stallone and the governator

i believe i saw a movie wit arnold about this magic movie ticket
and the main kid is in an arnold movie
and they go to like a blockbuster
and sylvester stallones on the posters and stuff instead of arnold

but other than that yea famous actors that act the same genre of movies
together in 1 movie

thats why oceans eleven n 12 were so popular and id say very good movies!!
