Well I've finally modded my PS2 (using tape and tissue paper and a Swap Magic disk!
http://www.geocities.com/pstwoslimline/tapetissue.htm) and I have got a chance to play Winning Eleven 10.
Well first for the non-important stuff
Graphics: Did they change this at all? 8/10
Sound: The japanese announcers are all right, although I understand nothing. The new music suck...although there isn't that much music to begin with. 5/10 (oh, like who cares)
Extra Features: Random Selection (you can combine 4 teams or a region to create a random team) seems like a random but awesome idea. Master League hasn't changed at all...except they now show faces in the roster menus, I think. The World Cup challenges are fun, but I haven't played Nippon Challenge since it's against my morals to let the japs win the world cup. All in all, nothing new. WE 11 better have tons of new features because the same Master League is starting to annoy me. 5/10
The important stuff
Gameplay:
After playing a game, it will be obvious that the gameplay changed significantly...back to Winning Eleven 8, a.k.a. PES 4. This game is offensive minded, even more so than WE8. It also helps (or makes things worse depending on the point of view) that the goalkeeper makes a lot of mistakes. They punch much more than before, which I guess is realistic. Also, the through passes seem to be less accurate and the passes get intercepted more.
Frankly, I like the game this way. The offense has improved, and goals are easier to score than WE 9, but not so much that the game becomes FIFA. The game also flows more smoothly maybe because dribbling is faster and it's less "twitchy"(Not sure if that's the right word, but those who played WE 9 might understand) than WE 9.
I was afraid that with the new offensive minded game this game would turn into another FIFA, but so far it isn't as arcadey as FIFA, but not too slow like WE 9. It's kind of weird because I liked WE 9 as well, but I like the feel of WE 10 better so far. Maybe I'll change my opinion later, but so far WE 10 seems like a decent upgrade to those who liked WE 8.
Overall: 8/10
