Scam or not?
The guys says it's not working on comission, you get paid hourly. 4 hours a day, 6 days a week.

It feels like it might be shady, I can't put my finger on it. What do you guys think?

Sounds like telemarketing. Even if it isn't a scam, I don't think you'd want this job.

For four hours a day like 5 minutes from my house... I'll do anything

I can't figure out how it COULD be a scam, with no commissions and no deposit. Something just feels fishy

Well, I got the job- it's not a scam, and it's not really telemarketing either.
It's just calling people back who've already made an order to set the appointment... no selling.
8 bucks an hour for the first month, and $15/hr after that.

I occasionally work from home and when I first started this telephone thingy I thought it was scammish. I receive orders for companies and I cant really complain, I make at least $10/hr just sitting in front of the pc in my boxers, scratching my balls and chatting with folks. I'm in college so its pretty good cuz I choose the hours I work. If I wanted to work 2 in the morning I could. Its way better than the last job I had which felt like slavery.

I got out before they did, but as I was reading over the encyclopedia-sized stack of forms I had to sign I came across a small paragraph in which it told me that you are required to open an 'account' with the company. When you start a call with a customer, it takes money from YOUR account, usually the minimum order of $125. If the sale is successful, that $125 is erased, but if it's not- you owe the $125 for not making the sale. And then the $8/hr they'd be paying me would work me out of that $125 hole.

A, I think I'll start reading forms now, ouch! I would've been that idiot who just read a little bit and then went ahead and signed it.

I've done that a couple times and it came back to hurt me. An example is my current lease where I was lead to believe they wouldnt increase my rent but they did. Oh well. I know better at the time but I was so tired from apartment hunting and this place was so nice. Its funny because I read lthe fine print of the crappier places more thoroughly before.

wow, you got to be kidding. You would have to work a little over 15 hours to pay that off!

It's probably barely legal, scraping by on exceptions and loopholes.
