Bush has every power to force gas companies to lower their prices. This is not a completely free market, it's a capitalist economy with government intervention. This is to prevent monopolies and price gouging, so I'd say you're wrong benji.

President Bush could be doing more , but so far he just hasn't

So the President of the United States has the power to set prices for goods? Funny, I thought the NIRA had been declared unconstitutional.

Enlighten me to exactly how the President is granted the power to tell companies what they can charge for their goods.

Yes, Bush could be doing more as has been noted above. But there's this thing called Congress.

There's no price gouging here. The price of oil is up, therefore the price of gasoline is up. Price gouging is the practice of sharply raising prices in anticipation of or during a civil emergency. That is not happening here, gas prices have steadily risen and fallen with the price of oil.

Calling for more government intervention here is the complete opposite of what should be done. We all know what price controls did in the 70s.

you know the shitty thing about these gas prices, some petrol stations dilute with water. Not only is that bad for your car but your getting ripped off whilst they make money.

Shell comes to mind. Esso/Exxon Mobil has the worst emission pollution rates and the best place to go for gas is Husky/Mohawk.
