The Paper Disc

Thu Feb 02, 2006 11:55 pm

Have you guys heard of this? This may seem old but they look cool. Made out of paper and can accomodate 25GB of space. You can even cut it! The thing is they're expensive and are rare. Maybe some of you have tried it.

I'd hate this severly. The chances of it getting ruined or whatever would be so high I'd guess, seems a bit pointless. Just expand the size of current DVD/CDR's.

I heard they're already working on something that PS3 might use that can hold many, many gigs worth. I forgot what the disc technology is called, but it's sure as hell not made out of paper.

It's called Blue Ray. An upgrade to the DVD. At least that's what I think you're referring to.

Fri Feb 03, 2006 12:17 am

Yes, Blue Ray. That's right. I'm not too sure if they're backwards compatible on most DVD players, but I think that's something they're working on right now.

LMAO, do you guys ^^ read? The title of the article in the first link says "blu-ray"..

Fri Feb 03, 2006 1:36 am

I read. Just not the links

Blu-ray hold up to 25GB on one layer, 50GB on 2 layers.

 Well, I would have to click on the link, but for me, "paper" and "disc" says it all.

I wonder what will happen if you spill water on it?

Fri Feb 03, 2006 7:28 am

 thats really cool!!

Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:02 am

wow really cool. but you probably be mad scared to even touch it

Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:17 am

It may be made of paper, but I doubt it would be the same as a sheet of paper, it would have to be more rigid.

Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:18 am

If i'm correct, I think I remember seeing them in a blue disk cover/case, which is probably how they are read and written too. I'm pretty sure they know the risks of paper lol.

Yeah, but I don't think we do, hats?
