Cricket Bat

Postby Fitzy on Tue Dec 06, 2005 5:57 pm

I have put a cricket bat on hold at the local sports shop, it is a Slazenger V8 Select for $315. Does anyone here have one? Is it worth the money?
I have found Slazengers great bats, i have been using a mates V900 in the last three under 16's games and have made the 20's in every one.

There are only a couple of countries where people actually play cricket and this is a basketball forum too, so you might just want to look for a cricket forum to ask this very question.

I find cricket pretty gay...
The way they throw the ball, and the way you hit it...
It's freakin' weird... And yeah, 300 dollars on a 5 kg+ of wood?
No... go get a basketball jersey, a ticket to a basketball game...
And let the star sign your jersey. Good deal (Y)

I'd rather use a plank of wood with 9 inch nails and barbed wire sticking out of it. That way, I can't lose to anyone.

slazenger makes good bats, and if you payed $315 for it then of course its going to be fucking good.

once you start paying high prices for bats, they're all similar (in that they all hit the ball very very well) and its more the comfort (weight, middle, edges etc.) that matters.

i have a GN Predator 750, its fucking mad, so get one of them

and all you dickheads whinging about how its so expensive...
how bout the prices of a set of golfclubs, a baseball bat, a fucking NBA basketball ffs!!!

I know a guy who has a $650 bat, I can't really tell the difference between it and a $150-$200 one.

I dont think you should spend 300 odd bucks on any equipment unless your playing at college/pro level. If you are then go for the best if you feel it'll help you and if your parents/you can afford it...although I wouldnt want to ask my parents to give me 300+ dollars to spend on sports equipment.

and all you dickheads whinging about how its so expensive...

Only a pro would buy a baseball bat at 300+ dollars, golf clubs well err people who buy them usually earn alot of $$$'s and fucking NBA basketball ffs, well I have no idea what that is.

get it pressed by a machine, knock it in for as long as you can handle (4-6hours) then give it a 3 coats of linseed oil (wait for each one to dry)
finally, put extrateck over the blade
