Broadband Speeds

Thu Dec 01, 2005 9:53 pm

We were thinking of upgrading our broadband from the basic 256/64 connection to 512/256 for an extra 20 bucks a month.
Do you guys rekon its worth it. I want my downloads to go a faster () and because dad thought our speed was 512/256
But if its only goin to be a little faster i dont think its worth it.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 9:58 pm

Shit, $20 extra. Is it unlimited downloads and time?

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:06 pm

Yeah its unlimited for $80 a month

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:08 pm

Then take it!

I would if I was pimpin' rich like Fitzy

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:10 pm

 Yep pumpin rich like me.
I want to know if it will make the broadband considerably faster

Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:23 pm

$80 a month? I'm paying $59.99 for 512/128 although it's got a 10 gig limit before the speed is shaped.

Another note... if you're looking for an ISP go with iinet. They have great speed plans and they're all cheap.

That seems expensive to me...You can go with Comcast or Wow for up to 6 mb/512 kb and it doesn't cost more than $60. Or you can go with a 1.5 mb for about $45 by me.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:44 pm

We've got a 1.6 mb/330KB & no data limit for €9.95.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:44 pm

Thats definitly friggin expensive. In nYc we're paying $55 for 10,000/1000 KBS through optimum online.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:51 pm

You lucky bastards in America, get high speed internet so cheap. I'm on a good plan, you can't actually get it any more (they increased it to $70)
1500/256, 20GB limit. for $50 a month.

Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:54 pm

I'm paying 64.90€ for a 10mb/6mb speed connection, and it's pretty expensive too:
a 6mb/2mb costs only 29.90€

hey is there a bandwidth limit on OOL? I have it and always wanted to know the numbers lol

I'm at a 5000kb/sec connection with Shaw, and I think the download limit per month is 30 GB, though I've exceeded past that a few times. Paying about $45 Cdn ($38.50 US) per month.

ADSL2+ is the way to go over here I think.

Dad said our 12 month contract runs out in January (thank god) and we are looking at changing our ISP to TPG.
Here are the plans you can get:

We were thinking about getting the Premium 1500, 1500/256 at 70 bucks a month! And its unlimited!

It's not unlimited its 25GB

I'd applied for TPG before my mum went for BigPond. I am not bitter at all

I'd go for 512/128, though $80 is pretty expensive...is there any shaping? At work we do 512/128 for $66.95 for ADSL and Wireless, with shaping after 10 GB incoming and outgoing.
