I just don't like organizations that hand out scholarships and get people accepted to college for their skin color. You want equality? How about you get good grades and you'll get a scholarship for that. All the black people take the scholarships (athletes) anyways.

Yea, but the current system without affirmative action isn't necessarily fair. You need to take into account the fact that ALL African Americans REGARDLESS of income level are in a worse position that whites at that same income level. The income gap is around 26% I believe. It's pretty huge. Let's not forget how SATs are a measure of wealth. (I've put links before...ugh..and trust me there are THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of studies on this..It's basically true. Heck, one of the people I know here is doing a study on this, and the evidence seems to hold true. Just google SAT and wealth if you don't believe me, or take any SAT prep course, they'll tell you. Even a tutor from Princeton Review told me that.)

Also, let's look deeper on what you're saying. See, for your statement to make sense, the college acceptance system is assumed to be fair without affirmative action. So that means everyone should have basically an equal opportunity. Then why is there any reason that African Americans are under-represented? You are implying racial inferiority in that sense since all else is equal, how else is it that the percentages are so different? If White = Black = Asian, and Probability(White)=P(Black)=P(Asian) then how is it that the percentages don't hold if the racial issues shouldn't matter? P(White) = 2*P(Black) looking at the data given. If the system was fair, it wouldn't be that the acceptance rate of whites is THAT much more likely.

See the race factor is the variable to this equation. To counter that variable, you have no choice but to add a constant. Yes it is somewhat "unfair" but that is not taking into account the "unfairness" of being opressed and the effects of slavery and what not. What about Asians? How the hell are they OVER-represented by such a large percentage? Same thing with whites except, not as over-represented as Asians.

So in conclusion, saying that you think affirmative action is racist towards whites means you are ignoring way too many variables, past history, and other points. You are merely seeing one part of the equation. Abstract Liberalism is probably the most prevalent form of racism today. People just see their situation and think it's unfair because it's unfair to them. They refuse to take the whole situation into consideration.

I see your point and all Bang, but from personal experience I can't help but to think it's unfair. I got a 210 on the PSAT and the National Merit Scholar cut in Tx was around 216 this year for the "normal" people. Shit, so close, right? Well, two black kids and a Brazilian guy got something in the 190s and they get National Merit Scholar because they're black and hispanic (Brazilian, wtf). Oh yeah, they get a free ride to more than half of schools in Texas. Oh, and their parents makes much more money than MY parents.

You should've lied and said you was Black when you filled out your little form before you take the test when you have to bubble in your race

You know, technically I could do that. By law, they (collegeboard) isn't allowed to tell me I'm not black if I say I'm black :D .

I find it surprising that you weren't covered under that whole ethnic advantage thing... I mean since the US is predominately a white country, and they seem to be favouring blacks/hispanics etc I would've thought Koreans/Asian ( ) would've been covered. Weird.

Iy's that everyone can't tell the difference because we have too many retards that are color blind, so they think that they are white with funny eyes.

Edit: Also, we can't type.

It should be like that too, but because blacks and hispanics are stereotyped as criminals, gangstas, dumb and poor, (watching American TV will show that), they give the stereotype that all Asians are martial artist experts that bring home a lot of cash because they're all super smart and do well in school. I find that whole situation with KevC a crock of shit, and it's unfair for a race to have advantage, even if it's because of slavery and discrimination in the past. If race was going to be put on in the forms, then so should family income earnings.

I actually had the same situation as you. In fact, the exact same. (I was I think 94th percentile in PSATs and if I were an under-represented minority then I would've gotten a scholarship. If I had 1 more percentile up, I would've gotten it regardless! agh!) Well the thing is we Asians are over-represented in colleges. I guess partly because we don't have that many restrictions and discrimination as the African Americans. The thing is, even with the penalties the Asians are going into colleges percentage-wise compared to the other races. I also thought like you long time ago. I mean, why should we be penalized for being smarter? Then I took some history courses and realized that equality is far from being a reality in the United States, and that even with scholarships and what not, the playing field is not fair for all the races.

If you lie about your race and they find out, they'll blacklist you from all the colleges...(I know a person who said she was an Eskimo since she was from Alaska -_-;; and later they found out she wasn't and was blacklisted from all colleges.)

Man, it's not a stereotype, it's true. All people of Asian descent know kung-fu, sell bootlegged dvds in chinatown and do well in math.

Exactly.

lol, not to be stereotypical or anything, but the only black people I've met were criminals, gangstas (or at least impersonated them), dumb and I'm not too sure about poor.

Edit: I didn't mean you Mafia, or any other of the black people on the forum.
