Online Games and Honor

Postby DTNTER2003 on Thu Sep 29, 2005 5:46 pm

Quick question. Is there any honor in online gaming? Why do people cheat so much in sports games ?

To the cheaters- Why do you cheat? What do you get out of it other than a cheap win and a loss of respect from the gaming community?

Just some stuff I want to know. I have been playing NBA Live online for 4 years now and the cheating adn dishonor is endless. The sad thing is they think it is ok. Peace Out.

How do they cheat online? What exactly do they do?

Only thing I can remember is playing Nba Live 2005 on Xbox Live and people would press the standby button when they were losing..
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

Lol there's no "honor" involved in online gaming. It's just supposed to be for fun, if they cheat then fine but it's not "dishonor". Is it cool to cheat? No. Would I ever cheat in an online game? No. Are they well within their rights to cheat? Yes. It's one of those unwritten rules things, but I think the Live 06 section is living proof that even written rules aren't followed most of the time, so you can't really expect random people from all over the World to respect these hidden gamers rules.

My advice; find yourself a small community of people who feel the same as you. Then you'll have no problems.

Well, most people cheat to see the angry reaction of others, and some might think it's funny. Take the www.pwned.nl thing for example, that was meant to ridicule all those counter-strike players who might've taken cheating a bit too seriously.

All in all, it did get annoying when someone would cheat during a game, but you can't let that bother you from actually enjoying the game.

I find that those "rep" systems work pretty well. Where people can warn/de-rep each other. If someone's an idiot, you can do that. They might try to do it back to you, but if they're an idiot to 10 people they're going to be in trouble.
