"Aussie Big Mouth" to appear on Leno

This probably won't interest a lot of people, but I thought I'd share it anyway. Colin Stephens aka the "Aussie Big Mouth" will be appearing on the September 20th episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. "Big Mouth" performs "mouth stunts", eg putting large or numerous objects in his mouth; golf balls, an orange, a light bulb, etc. He's been on the Footy Show and a few comedy festivals over here in Australia.

The reason I mention it is he's actually from my hometown, Newcastle, or at least lives here now. Not only that, but he's actually been coming in to the ISP I work for (since we also have an Internet Cafe set up) to email the producers, organise his travel arrangements and appearance particulars. Because he's somewhat of a novice with computers we've been helping him a fair bit by typing up emails for him, showing him how to browse, print and whatnot. Through all that, we've learned about his upcoming appearance and a bit of the background story of his "talent".

I'm going to have to watch it tomorrow night. After hearing about it for the last month or so, typing his emails and listening to the stories, I need the closure. If anyone's interested, once again he'll be on the September 20th episode. For my fellow Australians with pay TV, that's tomorrow night (September 21st) at 11 PM AEST on the Comedy Channel.

Just thought I'd share my brush with "celebrity" (or soon-to-be "celebrity"). If it's not of any interest...create your own anecdote thread if your life is so damn interesting.

Apparently it was first discovered when he was in first grade when he put his fist in his mouth during class. Rather than scold him, his teacher brought him up the front of the class to demonstrate his "talent" and encouraged him to keep working on the feat...which he apparently has done.

Apparently he got a cricket ball stuck in his mouth at a party.

Watched it the other night, it wasn't bad actually. It's surely a 15 minutes of fame thing, but it was kinda cool to see him on TV. Matt LeBlanc was also a guest that night and couldn't have been more amused by him, especially when Colin got him to help shove the orange into his mouth.

It's also a good thing i haven't had my fingers bitten off by bears or sharks otherwise i wouldn't have been able to type this dilema at all...

He's back in Newcastle, he dropped by the office. He's pretty excited about the whole thing, seems like he might be getting some more bookings locally and possibly again in the States.
