I always say please/thank you and constantly apologise for things that aren't really my fault... it's just common courtesy, and in most parts of this country it still exists thankfully.

McDonald's????? WTF this is very weird. But as for the thank you part, i think its not because they are rude, i think that they have had a terrible shock about their belongings and everything so they are too depressed to say THANK YOU.

I put this here so this post technically isn't spam. Well actually it is. Screw it.

I know people who have actually volunteered here in San Antonio to help the victims from New Orleans. A lot of the people say that it has made them think about life in a different perspective. I didnt read the whole damn post either, but from how everyone else is responding, it sounds like these certain individuals were asses. I am seriously thinking about volunteering/going with a school group to some military bases/some katrina housing areas to help out and see what its actually like. i know people who have told me that they feel sorry for the victims because the media/actual devastation has literally torn them up and other friends have said that they dont feel sorry for them because of such incodents like the one in this thread.
ill be going to:
a) see in first person the type of conditions that the people have to live in
b) work with/help the victims
c) get to spend time with a certain someone
d) get community service hours for NHS

I always make sure I say thank you or please no matter who I'm talking to. It's not a hard thing to do, why can't people do that today? You can't be in that big of a rush not to say two words tops.
Pisses me off.

Sign of the times, unfortunately. Not many people seem to have the time or desire for civility or manners, perhaps because a lot of people have found they can get their way through rudeness.
